Found this guy in a Pawn Shop a year or so back, finally getting around to messing with it. H&R topbreak, in .38 S&W. No serial, so no manufacture date. Patent date in the late 1870s. Cartridges are loaded with Lee's 125 RF, allegedly at .358, but my mold runs .361, which is about right for the .38 S&W. Cast soft as well, rated at 125 grains with WW, mine are 133 grains. Load is 1.8 grains of Bullseye. Tried some soft 158 grain SWCs over 1.6 BUllseye, but wouldn't shoot for crap, bullets too small.

Charley, I've got a gun that looks about the same but it's an Iver Johnson in .32 S&W. Thanks to Slingshot I might get to try it out. He sent me about 60 rounds of .32 S&W for the cost of shipping only. A big plus is that there were 8 or 9 different headstamps in the batch so my cartridge collection just grew too. Hope I can return the favor some day. RD

Barrel slugs at .360, .361 should be fine. Don't exactly plan on shooting it a bunch, but do want to shoot it!

IJs and H&Rs are not exactly suicuide specials, quality wise, but the old breaktops aren't exactly designed for powerhouses, either. Rocky, is your IJ in .32 S&W or .32 S&W long?
