I found this several years ago and have found no one that knows what it is. It was found out in the country at the base of a new power pole.

| Almost looks like a rail-hook from a railroad work crew.

| Some scale might have been helpful. It is about 14 inch long and the square part of the shaft is 1/2" the round handle part is 3/8" diameter. It is definately a factory made item as the parts appear to be forged.

| Its a ratchet to turn a "toothed" wheel if you will....... It may be used for other things as well but I have that exact same tool in my shop , its part of a very old press.... to lower or raise the press you have to turn a "notched wheel" and when pressure is needed to "press" a bearing or what have you , you use that ratched for leverage and you just keep stroking it forward , then pull it , then forward etc etc ...the rounded front edge of the hook lets it pop up on the forward stroke and then fall down into the next groove so you can pull again...... dont know if that helps you or even makes any sense , and as I said before Im sure there are prov\bably other uses too

| Looks like a spike puller to me. Occasionally you'll see poles out in the country with "L" shaped spikes left in them towards the bottom.
