I hope so too, but is this the better of two evils or some one who truly will serve the people of the United States?
I do find that McCain is an honorable man and a mustang that may be the right man.

I'm no cheerleader for McCain, but I'm not ready for my country to be handed over to the Marxists just yet. Seems like we spent quite a bit of blood and treasure holding them at bay during my lifetime. I listened to much of Obama's speech that he gave in Germany the other day - Karl Marx would have hugged him like a long-lost son.
Further, I don't think I'm ready to hand my country over to a man who believes the way to take on fanatics who send their followers out to blow themselves up on buses or in crowded market places is to talk with them, or maybe go to the gym with them and shoot a little one-on-one hoops.
McCain has a defensable record, both of military combat service, military command experience, and service in the US Senate (I'm sure he's been on the job there for more than 143 days). He may have signed onto some pretty stupid legislation, but at least he's been active on the job. He can probably be swayed a bit more to the right (he already has, re: drilling for new oil off shore) on some things. I doubt that Obama is capable of a right-turn, although he might signal for one if he thinks it will bring in some votes.
Even if the two were ideologically equal (I consider McCain to be a socialist, which is not the same as a Marxist), I couldn't vote for Obama based on experience alone. He has nothing to offer but shallow, feel-good platitudes that appeal to the let's-get-even-with'em crowd while advancing a Marxist, state-ist, globalist agenda. On top of that, he's a lawyer and so is his wife. It didn't work out so well the last time we put two lawyers in the White House.
More importantly, the next president will likely nominate three potential Supreme Court justices. The split is already precarious there. McCain is not as likely to stack the court with Marxists. Obama is a wild card, although I think it would be a safe bet that he'd nominate lawyers who think like he does. When considering the Bill of Rights, that's a scarry thought. The court has already given the State (i.e., the government) the right to take away your land and use it or sell it for whatever purpose they want to, no just for government use. They just told Louisiana to stuff it when it comes to how they chose to punish those who rape children.
Alot of what will make or break McCain's candidacy IMHO will hinge on his selection of a running mate. The chances of McCain's being elected to two terms is slim, and I thought he said once that he wasn't interested in two (that may have changed), but age is certainly a factor. He needs to pick someone reasonably younger and yet experienced enough to govern if something unforseen should happen in the first term, or if he should choose not to run for a 2nd term. There's plenty of those folks around. I'd personally like to seem him offer the job to Dr. Condie Rice. She'd be the first vice president with a Ph.D. (that I'm aware of) and would do a lot to eleveate the office, in my opinion, although I believe she has said she doesn't want the job. Mitt Romney might be a good middle-of-the road Republican choice. Alaska's Governor Sarah Palin and Louisiana's governor Bobby Jindal are two rising stars that he might consider - both young, both conservative, both outspoken supporters of the Bill of Rights. Some have mentioned Haley Barbour. I consider him to be a party hack and he's an attorney to boot, which makes me squeemish about him. Plus, I believe it was he who gave us Bob Dole to run against Bill Clinton. Nothing against Sen. Dole - a real American hero - but there just wasn't any way he could win against all that "power crackling in (Clinton's) jeans", as one reporter put it. But at least Barbour has been a governor and governors seem to have a clue about how the executive branch
works, even if they don't always run it the way we'd like them to.
I may have to hold my nose while I vote for McCain, but it won't be for lack of character on his part or inability to lead. I just disagree with him on some issues that are pretty important - imporant but not critical. He's been a warrior and we're at war. Beyond that, his mettle has be tested and proved true. I'm old enough to remeber when he refused to be released by the North Vietnamese when they wanted to let him go as a PR move, but they would not release the other prisoners with whom he was kept at the "Hanoi Hilton". He could have gone back to the world, but he stayed and ended up suffering greatly for it. Obama has NOTHING in his resume, much less anything that speaks of bravery, of character, of loyalty.
So, for me it's NObama in 2008.

Me and WHRTexas discussed this yesterday out at his ranch..There is no way in hell I would vote for the ManSyrian candidate,Obama...As bad as I hate to say this, and I do it with my hand pinching my nose shut..I would vot for Hillary before I voted for that prick...
I aint saying I am a fan of McCain either....Some of his past votes on gun issues and other issues leave me feeling he will turn at the drop of a hat...
I take nothing away from the man.He was a warrior,he served and that is more than the ManSyrian candidate can say..with 143 days in office???how the hell does that equate to enough experience to lead this country?Hell it took me a year as a young cherry Scout to learn enough about my job not to get killed..
and this fella is gonna run this country after 143 days of being a senator???
give me 8888ing break...
He is playing the race card, and doing it well..unfortunately the retards who vote for him don`t understand, this country is in a recession and the ManSyrian candidate aint got a farking clue of how to fix it...
My granpa once said about voting for a politician. You got a pile of shit in each hand, you gotta eat one pile, choos the hand with the less shit in it before ya take a bite.
The way I see it,Obama is a 6 feet tall pile of shit..and McCain, well he aint far behind looking at his voting record,..but if I gotta eat the shit, its gonna be the smallest pile./.\
aka McCain

| I can't believe any true American would even think of voting for the Slimy Black Muslim Obama. This guy is the worst candidate this country has had for the White-house. I hope the real people of this country wake up and get out and vote for John McCain . He isn't my first choice but he is all we got.
