Hi Guys, I get quite jealous down here when I see the tools you have access to for self defence and we can't even carry a pocket knife without sufficient justification. If I even have a baseball bat beside my bed an have to deal with an intruder I can be charged for assault or possession of a offensive weapon. God help me if I managed to unlock my safes, remove the bolt from one safe, a rifle from another and ammo from the storage cupboard put them all together as I am being beaten to death and shoot the B******. Sorry but it is quite stupid the amount of protection afforded to the criminals down here, we are headed the same way as Britain. Don't let your government screw you the same way ours has, we used to be a country where you could just pick up your guns and go hunting, now we have to jump through hoops just to be able to buy any weapon and we can't have auto loaders only bolt actions and handguns are for the few. i wish we had a NRA. Thanks, Ian

Blackie,

I feel for you, I remember when the gun band went into effect they were sawing rifles in half. Just remember that in England if you atke a kitchen kinife out into the streets, that could be a criminal weapon offense.

Right now, my best early warning is the dog that hangs around my place, he's not a Dingo, I do feed him, but he belongs to one on neighbors. Yet he spends most of his time around my place and my shop.

His name is Brutus.

Jerry

Break ins are so rare where I live, I heard that we had some cattle rustling last spring, some guy pulled up to the pen that the auction and loaded up a cow and left.

Mostly we have speeding, occasionally the Amish teens are drag racing their buggies. My home is far out in nowhere that people don't know where we are. What I keep near the bed is more for coyotes that come up to the house. As that it is fall the 'Yotes will get braver, then come up and try to eat the barn cats, and when the cats get away, they go after my garbage.

Slingshot, where did you get the Black Talons? I thought those went off the market and came back under a different name and became LEO.

Jerry

All I have  to do  is  look at him to see  what  He's looking at, and that's  where the  intrusion is.

He will shut up if  I ask  him, but  you  have  to let  him see  you to make  sure it's  OK.

Had  6  peachicks  last  year too.

I use Hydrashoks, and buy new ones every year, use the old ones at the range.

Some people I know use Winchester Ranger bullets, but I am not sure how to get them.

I keep a Taurus .38 under the bed. If they're man enough for a 158 gr. lead swc I'll throw in 5 more at no extra charge.

Well,

At one time I had a sweetie of a door greeter gun.  It was a double bbl 10 Ga. with 19" bbls.  I kept it loaded with 00 Buck.  While you are still asking the question yes it kicked, like a couple of Mo. mules.   But I got an offer that I thought was too sweet to pass up. Now I get why that offer was so high,  oh well so be it.

    Take care Be safe Poacher.

I have many items available....however I always have a Glock 19 loaded with Cor Bons and a .38 Snub loaded with Speer Gold Dots. Extra mags for the auto and two speedloaders and two speedstrips for the revolver. Also a Ruger BH .357 in the nightstand. I have 14 shotguns, mostly SxS and O/U for hunting, but I usually keep the trusty Ithaca M37 20ga. loaded with buckshot under the bed.

12 ga. Mossberg pump should win most arguments of that type.  1,000 pheasants can't be wrong!

If you mean what's available on the nightstand if the back door gets kicked down in the middle of the night, there's the Ruger SP 101 with Mag Tech 125's.  Figure a  DA revolver is better for that kind of work--grab, point, squeeze--nothing to remember or think about, except getting the Mossberg out of the closet!

You're in pretty good shape with 45 Black Talons if you dole them out one or two at a time to those "in need". I have a box or two of BTs in 9mm Luger. They were the s**t back in the day, but a number of other defense rounds have been born in the interim that will ward off (or drop) the goblins if they come a knockin'.

I like to rotate my bedside battery from time to time, mostly cuz I get bored seeing the same old pistol in the nightstand drawer every time I open it. Right now, it's a Kel-Tec P11 9mm, but pretty soon it's going back into the safe (or onto my slide-out keyboard table) and the Glock 23 with night sights will take over night time defense duty. After that, probably the Taurus PT1911. Once in a while, one my Uberti .45 Colt SAA clones does a tour in the nightstand. A Mossberg 12ga. pump (magazine plug removed), stuffed with 5 rounds of 3" 00 buck stands behind the bedroom door. Our alarm system is a very alert, tenacious and vocal 3 year-old Cairn Terrier who sleeps in the living room when she's not outside chasing the 'coons away from the cat's food bowl.

I've got a Stevens SxS 12 guage within arms reach and a  Montgomery Wards .22 Semi Auto Pistol in the dresser drawer, along with my .45 colt/410 Contender loaded with a .410 2.5 containing 3 balls of 000 Buck. But my real secret weapon is two very lazy Black labs sleeping in a pitch dark hallway. Half the time I trip over them myself in the dark. RD

For those wishing for "BLACK TALONS"

Winchester rangers are Black talons ,

just goes to show how phony and ignorant our gun grabbing politicos are. Repackaged product with a different label same stuff inside. this is one time when there own tactics have been turned around on them .  There's no more such a thing as a "cop killer bullet" as there is a " hate crime "            all bullets can kill   and the crimes listed  as hate crimes  are one of two category's   either its an attempt by radical leftist politicians to stifle free speech  or the named crime is  a crime against anybody it is perpetrated against. and not just the selected pet group who is the politicians  flavor dujour

just a side note there are at least half a dozen production bullets out right now that meet or exceed the performance specs of the  talons.
