We`ve been talking about a contest for 22 rimfires..22 lr and 22 magnum and 22 aguila as well...shooting at a measured 50 yards or 150 feet..
Heres what we`re thinking..

http://www.mytargets.com/target106%20grid%20x4.pdf shot with 5-rounds per dot, average group to be determined by all groups divided by four.  Ranges already listed above.  One target per member, per class shot.  Target would need to have name, date shot, caliber/class, and that would be about it.

I know there would be no way to determine if someone was shooting a centerfire at 50yards(cheating), but I'm not the one that would have to live with it.  So twenty rounds and a stamp....not too expensive.
Perhaps we can find a prize to the winner regarding handloading..

Lets hear your thoughts.

That might be fun.

Let me know if you get enough people to do it, I'll be glad to help out with scoring and not shoot at all.

No onew knows me so I'm the best kind of scorer - FBI background test every year as a result of my Loan Officer's license and REALTOR's license through the State of Texas.

I'll make tome to officiate.

Nice yote by the way.

What area did you take him in?

I have been thinking of doing some coyote hunting this winter maybe near Greenvine.

Wow, replies are fast on this one..
The cutoff deadline will be one month from now.
15 September 2009, all entries must be in,postmaked no later than 12 SEPTEMBER 2009.
As Mike Murf has offered to be the scorer..I`ll accept that offer Mike.
No staff of the HB are allowed to score in any way but are allowed to participate as a shooter.
Mike Murf has final say on the lowest group that wins..
Mike, do you wish to have your mailing address for shooters to mail their targets to publically viewable here?
If not I will post an address where targets are mailed to,then sent to you to score?
sound fair everyone?
This is on the honor system fellas.I expect every man or woman or child shooting to be honest as I know you all are.
Children are allowed in put please notify us that this is a child shooting..I think they will have their own class in this.
We did this at the BSB a few times with centerfire 22`s.I think I took 2nd or 3rd with my 223 Ack in one of those.Beaten out by an AR that was tricked out and keeping .5 groups per 10 shots...It was loads of fun though and got me out to shoot more. You can send as many targets as you like if you think you can shoot smaller groups than the first one ya send up until the cutoff deadline.
I`ll hit up some of our sponsors for some sort of prize to be announced..
TG and the staff..

p.s , Mike Murf I called him in across Salado Creek from my house where I used to live
here in Central Texas near Fort Hood..

Two Contests now gents...
Children as well in the 17 class are seperate and one will recieve a prize and possibly a certificate as the winner of the the shoot in both 17 and 22 matches...

Sounds like a great idea. This could be a lot of fun. I would definitely participate
in the contest. Keep in touch and let me know the updates and rules etc. Lets
keep it simple. Will the LR and Mag. be a different class? Or is it all rolled into one?

can't wait,

Timber:
I'm in, looks like too much fun, where do we mail the target? Is there any class difference between "off the shelf huntin' guns" (auto, lever, bolt...) and 20 pound bench-rest shootin' irons? Just a thought, might be fun to see who's 10-22 Squirrel gitter' is best.

Yep, Irons and Peeps are their own class.
Mark your target as iron sight shot..
Or if you are using optics with magnification.
Unmagnified sights such as EOTECH,count as Irons..
So now..

Two matches with three classes

17 rim Postal shoot...
Adults
17 rimfire Iron Sight
17 rimfire w/ optics

Children
17 rimfire Childrens class
w optics
17 Rimfire Iron sights

Adults 22 rim w/ optics
Adults 22 rim iron sights...

child class
22 rim w/ optics
22 rim w/ irons

Their will be no seperation by rifle action or type..
Bench gun, 10-22, lever all grouped together..
pick your most accurate 22 or 17 and shoot...

If this works well, the next match will be a 22 centerfire shoot and a .20 cal shoot for you 204 Ruger fellas..

We`ll see how this works with the rimfires at 50 yards though..
I will post a mailing address as soon as I see if Mike Murf wants to post an address or one of the staff( not shooting in the match) can have em mailed to them, then we`ll send em all to Mike Murf..

Excellent proposal.I bought a box of Lapua 22 LR Match Grade  ammo about 34 years ago for $2.40 but never used it ,checked  the price this year same amount is $23.95.I'm unable to participate at this time as I'm restricted from driving, shooting, etc. due to a lower back injury.

Savage204,in my first post, click that link in it, it contains the target..Print it out and follow the directions in the first post I made for how to shoot it for the match.
I`ll add a copy of the rules in my first post.
Its gonna be pretty open though..
shoot from the bench, prone or however ya wish at a 50 yard target..
Then send em in with your username here, an email address so we can contact the winner..
The winners target will be posted here in each class of the shoot..
No problems on questions Joe, thats how we figure out the particulars..

Sounds good to me...but a few questions.

Open sight or scope - standing, kneeling, prone, or bench - free hand, sling, bipod, sticks, rest???? The combinations are endless. Thus to even it up between the folks who have the latest caldwell lead sled and the folks who like shooting off their back porch may I suggest that we have only one class and handicap it as follows:

Open sight +2  scope 0

standing +2, kneeling +1, prone 0, or bench -1

free hand +2, sling +1, bipod -1, sticks -1, rest -2

IE: if you shoot open sight, standing and free hand you would get 6 points added to you total per dot times 4 dots equals 24 points added to your total score.

Feel free to modify it any way you want.

Dang..... I just moved to ABQ and am still unpacking. If this one goes well, perhaps we can do another match later on. I'd like to do this, but at a later date. Good shooting to all in this one!
