I have four envelopes so far gents. They remain unopened as when all of em are in,I will forward them to an impartial judge(HB staff can not judge the shoot) and we`ll see who takes the cake with his or her rimfire.

Include on your target whether it is 22 rimfire or 17 rimfire, iron sights or with optics.
If you are entering for a child, the child cut off age is 16 years old. Those who are 17 and older shoot with adults in this match,
Include a current email address and your username here at the HB.
family members are allowed to shoot but make sure to say if they are adults or children so we can class the score...

Wouldn't it be good to include the Make/Model of the rifle, too? I thinl most folks would like to know this about the winner. This way they have a good excuse to go out and buy a ____________ so they have a better chance to win the next match! :)

Here's what I sent to 809b W Ave. D, Belton, TX:

The rifle is a BSA Martini. I recently traded it for a Unertl 'scope. This is a sweetheart. I'm quite sure this rifle could shoot MoA or better. The faults in the above groups are completely the "operator error" of old eyes trying to see through peep sights.

Here are the groups close up, workign clockwise from the upper left to the lower left:

Here's a picture of the rifle:

That's a nice little BSA Martini. Lot's of records have been set with those little jewels, and I've seen some with some top grade target rifle accesories on them. Scopes, peep sights, adjustable buttstocks, railed forearms for palm rests, etc. I'm looking to buy one right now, just waiting for the guy to decide he doesn't want it anymore.

Regards,
Bill

Mine is addressed and will go out with Mondays mail Gene:thumbs:

Wish I'd brought along more rimfires....  Had a great time just shootin' and not worrying about where the brass was landing!

I felt that shooting the Thompson Center Contender with a 10" Match Barrel and a Luepold 2x EER was the thing to do this time around.  Ammo was just one of those 550ct Federal 36gr HP jobs from WalMart(purchased 1997 for $8.96!!)

I have ammo that I loaded in the 60's too. Shoots fine.
I actually have military (.30-06) from the 40's that still shoots OK (of course it's corrosive so it's immediate cleaning that night) but I don't save the brass.

The 22 ammo I use for pest control around here is 22 short's from the 60's. Have about 3/4 brick left. Shoot them in a Win mod 62 pump.

I'll see that '40s milsurp ammo and raise you a '30s. As a matter of fact, the '30s stuff is the single most stable 'factory' ammo I have ever shot, producing max spreads for 5 shots as low as 4 f/s and never more than 12.

But I'm drawing us a little off topic...:shameon:

Wow! That 30's milsurp must be WWI stuff. I've never seen it it shootable quantity.
Anyway, back on topic, my .22 and .17 targets went in the mail this AM. It was great to have that incentive to go to the range. Win (unlikely) or lose (likely) this is a great idea and I hope we have more. thanks to the guys who are doing the work!

PS: My .17 target was shot with a Ruger 96-17 w/ a heavy barrel and .17 Aguila ammo. Anybody ever seen a Ruger 96-17 before?

Just to close the loop:

Wow! That 30's milsurp must be WWI stuff. I've never seen it it shootable quantity.

It's mostly 1938 nazi 8x56R ammo. Some of it is Romanian and some Hungarian. There's actually plenty around. The nazi stuff produces the most consistent muzzle velocities.

Back on topic:

Anybody ever seen a Ruger 96-17 before?

Nope.

Bought a huge quantity of it back then, and I don't shoot nearly as much rimfire as I use too.  Figured I would even breakout a 'new unopened box' for these events!

Going out later today or in the morning. Just printed the target. I spent the morning trying different loads in my Tikka Varmint rifles. .223 & .308. It's pretty quiet around the house this afternoon, so I think I'll catch some :sofa: time before I head back to the farm with the Savage MKII FV & that target.:lol:
