 Real sorry to here of the split TG, been there and done that already. Don't worry about a thing, it will all work out. Hell, my second wife buys me guns for Christmas and reloading supplies and equipment . There's good women out there, ya gotta find them in the timber,,,LOL!!!! As for the targets, do them when ya can,,,don't need to rush, we ain't going anywhere. Count me and my lady in on the next shoot. She had a good time on the last one and I think she showed me up. You guys are doing
a great job with this site,,,its a pleasure.

Will the groups be listed so those of us that didn't get it done can see how badly we would have been whooped anyway? lol

And TG....been there done that too. Sometimes life gives us a bitter pill.......just makes the honey that much sweeter when we find it. Guy

Gene: This is for fun so don't worry if you can't get to the scoring for a while. We're anxious to know the results, I'm sure, but we're big boys and can wait.

Meanwhile, what about getting started on the next match? Anybody have any ideas?
Same rules or different?

Same rules, same target is good with me. We can change as things get more organized.

A different target later on wouldn't hurt. 100 yds. could be interesting.

If we went to 100 yds, then it wouldn't be called the 50 yd 22lr,22 rimfire magnum shoot. Silly idea, I guess.

Sides, you guys are making me feel bad for even mentioning it.

I've never done a rimfire match, what's a decent group size for 50 yard rimfire?

I tried one of these targets today, forgot it was five shot groups and did three but still good fun. I don't know how to judge the results though or what's considered good. Got an average group size of .571" after subtracting caliber.

Hope the next match starts soon!

Our range has 3 to 4 rimfire matches per year off the bench.  Bull barrel rifles shoot at 50 yards and contour barrel ones shoot at 25 yards.  Even at these distances the wind that day will have the biggest effect on winning group size!  However, generally to have a winning chance a 5 shot 50 yard group needs to be under 0.6" and coutour barrels at 25 yds need to be under 0.4" CTC extreme spread.

On the last one we just had here. I didn't even send in a target. I was shooting my new Savage Mark II and the best group I got on the target was about an inch. I didn't even actually measure them. But I would guess my worst was nearly 2"

Only about a hundred rounds through it at that point. I hope it comes in a bit more, plus the trigger pull is quite stout.

Any how, I was wondering myself what kind of groups people get at 50 yds.

Thanks, have a good one, Guy

Well, I had a sub-quarter inch group, until the second shot.....

Thanks! I'm using a stock Rem 597 with Wolf extra match. The wolf ammo was quite impressive, as bulk winchester ammo gave groups over 2". Wind was pretty bad today so hopefully I can do well on my next try with 5 shot groups.
