Save a bit of time and throw my entry away before and without scoring. Based on the posted entries, I'm dead last.

I, after much thought on this matter, have decided to volunteer to score the next rimfire shoot.

When is it anyway?

Kansas45, I am in deep deep south texas at the moment.PM me your mailing address amigo..You`ll be official judge from here on out.
Soon as this one is done,(btw this one was a test run) we`ll go on the sanctioned one.The next one is for trophies...But must have at least 20 shooters enter so I can cover the cost of a really nice trophy from the trophy shop in Belton, Texas.I`ve already looked at em and will get a photo of the trophy that will be given out to the winner of the next match..
I`m thinking this next one is 22 cal centerfire, 100 yards,

Is .223 considered as a .22 center fire round?

That was my interpretation! But it also should mean 22-250 and 22 hornet as well.

I only have .223 as my 22 centerfire!

Cheers,
Bill

That will be fun, but I think it will be harder for average members to be competitive in a .22 centerfire match. A tuned 10/22 isn't so uncommon, but I bet a few people on here have Les Bear and NM ARs and benchrest rifles. Not saying it's bad, it will just be a different kind of match.

umm by different .. do u mean something like bolt action or gas action ( etc ) only ? one of the fav things i read on a duel was "sledgehammers in 6' of water " lolz ( dont ask why that stuck in my head plz but it has for like ever ) i read different as in say the m43 round only ( how's that for grins lolz ermm wait i just turned down a custom tc barrel in that caliber [dratz] )most of us have/had a 22 rimfire ditto 22 caliber centerfire sounds like a natural selection to me

lolz soz about that amigo ( i have my mind on reloading tonite )dragon stated" Not saying it's bad, it will just be a different kind of match." the refernce i threw in about sledgehammers in 6 feet of water was in regards to what one fellow supposed accepted a duel with in the 1800's that's an extreme differnt kind of match as would be the m43 round out of anything it was originally designed for , those are best known for umm lackluster accuracy ( sks ak47 rpg etc)but end result was that i agreed that after a 22 cal rimfire 22 centerfire would be the logical next round ( and also reloadable )now u got me thinking guy .... gee 5 shots all using the same exact shell now thaz handloading  ( and see what happens when i think ? )

I'm mostly talking about the grade of firearm and $$$ value required to be competitive with the matches. Most here can take their 22 rimfire to the range with hopes of cranking out a good entry and maybe winning. For a 100 yd centerfire though, the winner will almost certainly be that guy with the NM rifle or custom benchrest. This is just for fun of course, but I think a 50 yd rimfire is more competitive and fun for a broader audience.

However, since this is a handloading forum, the centerfire match brings your loaded ammo into the mix as well. I see it both ways.

AAAAHHHH....I understand now.......I thought I had a chance to "not look too stupid" with the 22 rim fire until I tried shooting my new little 5 lb Savage with the 6 lb trigger....but I know there is no way I can keep up with you guys when you get to choose your fav center fire with your fav load.....

I never tried to be THAT accurate and now I would like to be....the RA and eyes just don't let me.....sounds like an old man talking...but it is amazing how 10 years of RA can change things.

I would be using my wife's Savage model 11 in .223. I bought it for her last Christmas and with all the rain this summer and then the horrible skeeter population we had...we only shot it a couple of times...I think it has 30 rounds through it. Maybe I should take it out after our deer season is over and shoot a few.....

Have a good 'un, Guy

Maybe have a couple different classes.....

One being basic "off the shelf" .22 centerfires, factory guns.

The other for the exotic high-dollar match-grade guns.

That way us guys that aren't "bench rest" target shooters can compete?
