I wouldn't hesitate to carry a Bob tail commander, but the caliber would start with a 4.

I have 5 pistols on the 1911 frame, but would really like to add a .40 S&W Commander-size pistol to the list. I have never owned a .40, think it's time to correct that deficiency. The .40 S&W's popularity with law enforcement can not be denied.
