I'm glad you posted that. I had some questions about what to call some of those.

Hey, I have on good authority from one of CNN's finest blow-dried airheads (back during the Beltway Shooter's rampage) that the wee .223Rem can shoot accurately to 5,000 yards and is so very deadly because it's bullet "SPINS"!!

And the .50BMG can down not only high flying jet liners, but can shoot down satellites and the Space Shuttle!  AND, the .500S&W is THE weapon of choice of today's hip Gangbanger.  Must be why their four-sizes-too-big trousers always ride down off their butts.......

And we wonder why the 'news' these days is always bad.........

Bigdog, If you don't pay any attention to the media, especially the so-called evening news, you are uninformed... If you do watch - you're misinformed.

I guess I'll take the first choice...

The message is pay attention to the media so you know what to discount as drivel.  Plenty of that if you have the patience.

That's why I scan the Internut News - both sides.  Then I can winnow the chaff out and decide for myself what the truth is.

Often the far right can be as wrong or as agenda-driven as the UberLeft.  But we Americans are supposed to be individualists - I have never 'run with the crowd' and see no reason to begin now.

Still it would be nice (just wishing on a star here!) that the 'journalists' would get back to the old-fashioned concept of 'verifying the facts' and doing some danged research before putting their articles out - we'd see far less idiocy in the so-called 'news'........

I found a pic of an AK-47 that has one of those 5,000 yard sniper conversions done to it. It is one of the popular guns that is flowing into Mexico from the U.S. and sold to the drug cartels. Evil looking piece of machinery.

I remember sitting in a meeting with the big city police department public affairs officer. This was liberal city.

We were told by the officer that at every crack house they would automatic weapons and a large cache of ammo.

One person in the audience asked whether this was a gun like his father WW II 45 or a true machine gun. The officer admitted it was a 9mm handgun at most of the crack houses that were busted , then question became how large was this cache of ammo, turned out to be 4 boxes or less of ammo.

So much for truth in the government and the media.

Jerry

Its called a Scope Eye 5000. I think the 5000 in the name represents its 5000 yard capabilities. There is a rumor that the cartels will start using this assault weapon as and anti-aircraft weapon to shoot down fighter jets and other aircraft.

One of our biggest problems is the intentional dsiinformation put out by the Brady Bunch and other rabid antigun groups.  They had many sheeple thinking that ALL so-called "assault weapons" had been OUTLAWED by the AWB.  A co-worker was shocked when he found that I actually owned an 'AK47'!  I explained to him about what that odious law really did, what it actually covered and the difference between a true Assault Weapon and a semiauto sporting rifle.  It opened his eyes.  He's been to the range a couple times now and enjoys shooting.

We need to educate our friends, families and co-workers to the truth - NOT what they are spoonfed by the MSM.
