Returned this past Monday from a trip to Cody, WY for a visit to The Buffalo Bill Historical Center. On the way through Riverton, WY we stopped at The Rocky Mountain Discount Sports store.. I don't think that they heard of a components shortage - shelves full of powder, primers, and bullets. Pretty fair assortment of brass too.

The best part about the store... 40+ feet of long guns from floor up to a tall stretch. The prospective customer is welcome to take down anything he/she can reach. No alarms, chains or bars.. Turn around from the wall and there are several racks of black rifles that can also be examined.. No salesmen following you around either.

Strange, but I didn't see any baggy pants or ball caps worn backwards. They might be out of place with all the cowboy hats and ball caps shading the eyes..

If you ever get near Cody, the historical center is a must-see. A massive gun display from current manufacturers, the Winchester collection, Military arms, etc. Boggles the mind!!! There are still 3500 guns waiting to be displayed!!

There is also a large display area for the plains Indians, one for Buffalo Bill, a western art wing, and lots more. Everything is first-class - no shoddy displays at all.

Sure beats Illinois where you have to have a state issued card to even handle a rifle at a store counter. Visited my son when he was stationed there and was appalled not to be able to inspect a rifle. Told the clerk that in NC I could purchase a rifle, buy ammo, and walk out the door with my CCP all in about 20 minutes. He could not believe it. That is nocluebammy's state if you recall. That is what is in store for us if he gets his way. wc

I remember the 'bad old days' when we had to have our name and other data logged into a book when buying ammo at the store.  We've progressed beyond such nonsense - but the Goobermint would like to step back and reinstate those things again.  Having to 'register' an expendable commodity always seemed to me to be rather stupid.

I believe it is temporary as they will soon start passing restrictive laws again, wc
