looks like the firing pin is dragging when it's being ejected
the second foto the middle bottom case it looks less like a smear and more like a mini hit ....and it leaves me to wonder ,was the first shots or the last shots of the batch that way ? and does it still do it today ?

Agree with Fryboy. Maybe premature unlocking, or more likely a sticky firing pin. I'd pull it and clean the channel, and relube.

As near as I can tell it was most if not all of the batch thru that pistol.
Please explain what you mean by a "mini hit" Fryboy.
I take it that by dragging , you mean that after striking the primer the FP is not returning to flush with the breech face ?
Thanx for the insight Gents !

was wondering what kind of pistol and how many rounds through it since last springchange
also as the others said did you pull the fp and check for debris ,
I'd also check for a bad spring or cracked fp

mini hit = full round indentation BUT not as hard or as deep as the main hit ,if u look at the drag or smear it didnt seem to be as long or as much like a comet's tail but had a rounder look to it ,the others seemed more "pointy" ....so what kind of firearm ? and yes by dragging across the pin as it's ejecting ,the one that seemed "rounder" to me could have ejected slower or faster [shrugz] when i look at all the primers ( and tho my zoom works pretty good here and they are much better foto's than my old fone takes) it almost looks as if tho the ones with the most pronounced "skid marks " are just a wee bit flatter, but thats hard to tell,u'd almost have to deprime and glass it to see, ummm did u load or factory load ? and hoping for a fps is a bit much at this time ( but it could possible say alot or nothing )
but i agree with the majority ,take the pin out check for debris or a bad spring ....did they all feel the same ( in ur opinion ?)

I see those marks on tons and tons of brass that I find at the range ....one day I guy and his son were there shooting glocks and when they left , all their brass had those marks on it.... always wondered what was causing it since I see it on so much brass even of different calibers.

The pistol is a Baby Desert Eagle and is completely stock with less than 500 rds. down range. I do not know what the springs are rated at.
These are my reloads (specs in first post).
I will have to strip it down tonite and look at the firing pin etc.

Update.... got home and checked the Firing pin by stripping the slide from the frame and pushingon the backside with a pinaction felt smooth with no catches or wobble and I could see no deformations, burrs or crud with it fully extended.
I got to thinking about it and yes I remembered that I had a box of factory loads that I use to verify that the guns are working properly prior to testing of my loads and the showed no irregularities. So I gusess the prize goes to Woodsman !
I will try the same load on top of a different brand of primer and report back.
Thanx All

by 11 hours lolz " ummm did u load or factory load ? "
but the only prize we want is u shooting well with great reloads ( eh factory is ok too ....sorta )the question i have now ...how'd the factory primers look in relationship to these, yes the smear but also as flat, flatter, etc etc some semi's have a preference for a certain powder curve as well ,did u follow the first instruction in ur book?
" Be sure to disassemble and clean
according to manual your pistol prior
to initial use. Failure to do so may
cause the pistol to malfunction."
http://www.magnumresearch.com/docs/manuals/BABY%20EAGLE.pdf
they dont give a spring spec [dratz]
http://www.gunsprings.com/SemiAuto/EAANF.html
i dont know the model # or which one but ... they do have new springs
also keep in mind that sometimes it just depends on how one holds the gun ( recoil, ejection etc etc ) those with the marks may have been from a "fast fire" cycle or a looser/tighter grip...and now i'm really curious as to what primers u used but ...it may or may not change it ( worth a try )did u remove the firing pin or just push it back and forth ?there could be a small piece of debris in there that moves and isnt in the way atm ....dont worry i still have more straws to grasp at lolz and if it goes bang and puts the bullet where u want it it still functions for defense

I defer any prizes to the Fry
I'd still pull the firing pin completely out to inspect ,
seen one once the had a radial fracture do all kinds of weird stuff
and as fry said a piece of floating debris
can really mess with the troubleshooting prospect

Well got back out to the range today with another batch loaded the same as lastime (Hornady 185Gr. JHP wolf LP primer 4.6 gr HP38 OAL 1.20)except for a change in primer mfg. Changed to a Fed. LP vs. a Wolf LP. Saw no diff. in performanse with either pistol and was dissapointed in the powder.
Also took along another starting load to test with Unique and a slightly heavier bullet that seemed pretty sweet for a starting load.
