First real press that I owned was a Rockchucker.

Press that I learned on was a Lyman, don't know the model of it....my Uncle Skip bought it back in the early 70's.

Since then I've had:

Rockchucker, AmmoMaster, Dillon550B, couple of turrets, and the press that I ran at Remington in Lonoke, Ar.  She weighed about 18 tons, and would make 125,000 shotgun shells in an 8 hr shift!  All you had to worry about was a primer hopper explosion.....never had one.

Wow, can't believe noone went the Herter's route!  Got a Model U3 in 1972, because that's the one my buddy taught me to load with.  A "Ballistics Laboratory Model 15 scale", lol, and dies, all needed accessories to load for for $52, as I remember.  Herter's catalogs were a hoot to read.  Still using it, but did set up a couple RockChuckers for other locations.

This is the only press I have ever had.  Tis a C-H press I found in an old barn we was tearing down back in 1993.  Along with 5 each 5 gallon buckets of brass.....mostly GI 30-06 brass....

I started out loading 30/30 on a Lee Loader.  The old bang it with a mallet kind.  I've still got it though haven't used it in a while.  I remember how excited I was when I finaly got the big box of dippers they sold.  Now I could experiment!.

Mortis;

Yes, I did post as CB900F on the old Shooter's board.  That was the first board I ever joined.

Did you know that Don, The Mayor, had passed on?

Don has gone to the big reloading room in the sky?  I didn't think he was that old.  Any idea of cause?

I was there for a bit.  But you will know me under a different nick..... Leon Michaels.

I started out on a Lee hand press, then used a Huntington Compac hand press, and now use a Forster Co-Ax. I'm still learning (prolly always will be), so I've "learned on" all three.

Yeah, Don died of a heart attack.  One-time, massive, dead before he hit the ground type.  He was not that physically active & very overweight.

Massive cardiac huh?....well... damn site better then a lingering death.

Don and I was talking about 45's once.  He said he was issued a Singer 1911 when in hte service.  Said it shot all over the place.  I told him his problem was it was in Zig-Zag mode while my Remington-Rand shot in a straight line like any good typewriter.:wink:

Anyone know what happened to JeffOTMW?  Met with him in 2001 when we held the 1st Shootout/BBQ.  Interesting character.

Mortis;

No, sorry, I don't know about too many of the other members of the old Shooters at all.  Those I do know of are mostly either here, at BSB, or both.

You might put the word out at 24 hr. campfire or Graybeard, I think some at least hang at one or t'other.  I'll start a thread at THR & see what happens, though not much I'm gonna predict.

I started out about 1980 banging on a Lee Loader on the kitchen table.

Now I load roughly 30 different cartridges with an RCBS Rockchucker and Pro 2000. It's not as noisy any more :wink:
