Excellent article, and the photography was great. This helped me to understand the casting process. I'm thinking of getting into casting so that i can have more fun with my Black Powder rifles.  thanks a lot for the information.

thanks Hunter , a very informative read. I am still curious about my purple haze problem. I think perhaps it maybe a combination of flux and temp. I will play with it again soon.

Hunter,

I already printed out your article and added to my notebooks of information, which you are in Volume 3 of my bench library.

Many thanks,

Jerry

Jerry you are very welcome. I am glad the article has helped out.
I have written several others for that ezine (most were 1911 reviews) but others were on the CED chronograph, the Hornady L-N-L progressive press and the case feeder if you are interested.
With all the interest in reloading and casting I am hoping to encourage others to try the hobby.
Though I am by no means an expert if someone sees it is really not that hard to get started they may be more willing to try.
I figure the more folks we have on our side the better.

Congrats on your first casting. I just 5 new molds in, three for Cowboy bullets and two are Ranch Dog bullets. Plus I just ordered a Lee 20 pound pot. The 10 pounder still runs and has for nearly 20 years, but need more molten lead to cast up. 10 Pounds ain't enough.

A bottom pour pot is probably the next purchase for casting. I really like the reviews that the RCBS unit gets, I dont necessarily like the price. Yikes. 300 is  a lot to plunk down. But if it lasts my lifetime, it turns out to be fairy cheap. (that is unless I croak next week)

I think that I'll always be on the look out for molds.
