New at reloading or handloading. Wanted to know if anyone has made up a list of powders going from the fastest powder to the slowest. Including pistol and rifle powders. ie:pistol fastest - slowest
rifle fastest - slowest.

I hope you have a manual. If so read it from cover to cover to cover.
If not,"DON'T" load any ammo with out one. The powder list in in every manual I have.
Shoot safe and God Bless.

I've seen and used many different powder burn rate charts. One thing always holds true....they are all different. Some get close to matching, but others are just different. And this isn't even bringing in the lot to lot variations!
Be careful, and use known manuals to establish handloads!

the thing that beats a good manual is several good manuals.get some with pressure data.remember that every component is a variable.doesnt matter if everything is the same brand, they are different lots.different bullet types can be the biggest variable.if you study the manuals you will see that in some combinations one powder may appear faster and in another combination a different one.a burn rate chart is an important tool but it can be used improperly.dont read it as gospel.it is an approximation and nothing else.i prefer a chart that is non linear.one that doesnt list fastest to slowest.compare the chart from my listed shortcut.many are listed as the same.but their exact relationship depends entirely upon other varibles.for anyone who is new to this hobby i suggest if you can find a combination in several manuals that is pressure tested safe,it will be in a good firearm.you will run across some loads that one manual will have higher velocity and charge weight than other manuals, beware. that is a load to approach with caution.
