For the fellas here who arent sure they want to take up loading your own ammunition,here is an economical way to find out.It is on sale for $64.99 at Midway USA. This is Lee`s Anniversary Reloading Kit..
Item Number 149-097 at Midways online site
This is a good way to see the difference between handloads and off the shelf junk. It is all you need for now to see if you like reloading and you can always upgrade as time goes along.

That LEE Challenger press is a pretty sturdy little press. I got one several years ago to size cast bullets and it's still going strong.

i went with the 20 dollar package with the lower grade press but the free loading manual. i wanted to start out with a few books first. i recomend the speer manual as well, its available from midway for about 10 dollars or so, and explains the process of loading very well

I started reloading recently, after I got my first milsurp Mauser. Like others, I started in order to work up better 8mm loads than are available commercially. Since I knew I'd only be reloading for the one cartridge...and one specific rifle, I went with Lee equipment...including a hand press. This works very well for me, as I fireform all of my cases (after starting from new), then neck-size only, thereafter. I was careful to do a lot of research before actually buying equipment and materials...so I had most everything worked out before that (including the bullets and powder...and specific loads with which to start). I chose Lee stuff both for cost issues and because I will never do any high-volume handloading (20 rounds at a sitting will be about the most I'll ever do). I bought a full compliment of equipment, including case trimming bits, yet I still have well less than $200, in total, invested.
So far, I'm very pleased.

I started reloading in 1970 with the old "Lee Loader", and a set of powder dippers. After I bought a house I moved up to various presses, and a couple of benches. The Lee never failed to give me a good shootable cartridge. billt

Lee is an excellent way to get into reloading. When I first started I bought a Lee press and dies, thinking I might not like making my own ammo and I didn't want to spend to much money on equipment. Of course I liked it and gradually upgraded to the more expensive brands. I still use a lot of my old Lee dies and tools.

I bought the anniversery kit back in march when I started reloading and I love it. My step dad has since started reloading and bought the same kit after seeing mine. He loves his too, I like the lee dies I have for my 243, less $25 for a 3 die set and a shell holder. The best part is not having to use the lube since they are carbide. I have also bought a set of dies by RCBS for the 270. I liek the Lees better, probably becasue of the necksizer and the carbide, but I had better success with the Lees, I messed up several cases with the other. Course that was probably user error because that was the first time having to use the lube.

Jason, I'm betting you got some dimples in the shoulder from to much lube. Two days ago I was full length resizing my 308 cases in my Redding dies. I've got the technique down for spraying the cases so there's just enough lube to make the resizing easy but not enough to cause the dimple. Basically I don't get any lube on the shoulder. Well wouldn't you know, I kept getting those darned dimples. I cleaned the die out and did some more, but same thing happened. So I got out my old Lee 308 die and everything went smooth as cow s**t. I'll have to take a closer look at the Redding die and see what's up. After the 308's were done I resized some virgin 270 brass in Redding and it went great. Go figure.
On a side note, when I put the first few 308 cases in the die I thought "Boy, these are sizing real easy today". Then I put my reading glasses on and saw I was using the neck die. Oh to be young again and have good eyesight.

Fella's;
I've consistently noticed that while Lee has good ideas, the execution suffers because they build to a price point. The hand primer seems to be the exception to the rule.
It's true that you can get started reloading for less money with Lee, but I think it's also true that you wind up buying the equipment twice. First time Lee and later on some other brand that suits your operation better.
As a suggestion for those starting out, haunt the pawn shops, flea markets, classified ads in the 'shopper paper' & major newspaper(s) in your area. It's not at all unheard of to find a senior citizen opting for the RV life & selling off large quantities of reloading equipment. Tell that person your just getting into it and you might find yourself getting a helluva deal.
