Like with everything in life: The very best you can afford, two cheap ones probably will be more expensive than a good one and the dissapointment can be saved.
This too goes for scales, presses, dies, cases, bullets etc.
Good luck!

I have a shooting chrony F1 and it works fine for me ... it never messes up and is very accurate .... compared it with a friends much more expensive pact system ...... Im sure there are MUCH better ones then the one I have but mine works fineLast edited on 17 June 2008 05:51 PM by 40twist

Whatever you can afford is better then nothing. These little gizmo's are most necessary to beginners....too high a number is normally a bad thing.
Measuring of the SD and ES numbers are what I look for most of the time. Consistent number normally indicates a great load....normally.

It would depend on how much you are going to use it and how much do you want to spend. I have a CED.

I have a Shooting Chrony Gamma Master with the printer & remote.
Paid $160 for it last year (it's handy having a friend with an FFL that's on file with Midway....... ).
It works just fine & the printer is great for recording results.
The only problem is with the demo ballistics software: It just wont load on both my PC's but that's no real loss for my needs.

A Chronograph is not something you HAVE to have. They are a lot of fun and will provide a lot of info. However, I loaded for over 30 yrs before I bought a Chrony and I never blew a gun up.
Careful attnention to two - three loading manuls and not tring to push every extra FPS out of your rifle will suit you well, if you load for the most accurate load instead of the hottest.
I have one oft the earlier Chronies. It is fussy about the light, butworks. I would not trust my life to it though

| My Shooting Chrony Alpha Master works great. I reccomend the master as the screen is on the table next to you for easy viewing and control.
