I like the Lee Modern reloading 2nd edition but I also do not use just one source for data.

I would choose the Hodgdon manual. It also covers IMR and winchester powders.

If I could only have one manual, it would have to be Manual Garza. He does a hell of a job on my lawn...
If you mean handloading book, I rely on Lyman's most often. Widest variety of loads for rifle, handgun, and cast bullets.

Ackley's 1962 2-volume set; less lawyer-scat on the pages. That said, I would pay attention to the "work up to these" warnings on the maximums--some of my rifles aren't as good as Ackley's, and they're all at least 47 years older!

I cant do without 3 actually
but I shoot about 40 percent Hornady bullets so it is first..

Sierra and Nosler both are close runners up
speaking of manuals. There is a lot that can be learned by reading various manuals and comparing their max loads and velocities before you ever dump a charge in a case. Before I break out the chronograph, before I even begin load development,I read my Hodgdon 27th edition,My Hornady ,Sierra and Nosler manuals and generally will also see what Richard Lee wrote in his book..Books are a valuable resource but in the end, they are a guide.I have never hit an accuracy load with what the book says was an accuracy load.Thats half the fun though, seeing what a gun likes to eat.

It would be a toss up between Sierra and the Lyman and probably the Sierra winning.

Since I mainly use Hornady bullets for hunting, I'll go Hornady if only one choice. Normally I'll use either Hornady, Sierra manuals, Hodgon/IMR/Accurate and Vihtavouri internet references, it all depends on what I am using to reload.

i would wanna use theone for the bullets i was gonna use.
but if one only i think it would have to be the lyman as it covers a broader spectrum of bullets and it tells you actual recipes not just use x amount of powder and this weight of bullet.

I always seem to use my Hodgdon manuals more than anything else. Their online data is a great source of spontaneous info too. http://data.hodgdon.com/main_menu.asp
But then again I have others for cross reference. Buy all you can afford and always date & label them inside the front cover where you will remember when and where and why you got them. As the years go by it's good info to reflect on.
I'll be looking for the newest editions (that I can afford) at the Mesquite Gun Show this weekend.

I like redfog's loading manual lye-berry. My collection spans several titles and editions, and I find useful information in all of them. I also use (and contribute to) the data found at http://www.handloads.org/loaddata/default.asp? , and the loads offered by members on this forum are also helpful and most welcome.
What I enjoy about handloading is the process of working up a load tailored for a particular gun and purpose. Published data serves as a starting point in that process, which I add to through "on the ground" experimentation.
The more information, the better.

I thought the Sierra manuals were separate. One manual for pistol and one for rifle???
I like Lyman, new and the old ones.

I have several, including Lyman (4), Hornady, Sierra, Hodgdon, Speer, and some others, but if I could only have one, it would be Lyman.
