Is it important to clean the powder hopper on my RCBS Uniflow Powder Measure each time I change powders? Even though most of the powder empties out of it, there is still a coating of residue clinging to the sides.
If it must be cleaned, can anyone tell me how to do with the least amount of effort?

Hello Mike,Good to meet ya I must say first.
I have two RCBS uniflows that I keep set up on my bench.
Residue isn`t going to effect you.
I do clean out every grain of another powder before I switch powders to load for another chambering.A little residue is nothing, but you really dont want a mix with another powder. This is extremely important with fast burning pistol powders and very low charge weights.
What I`m trying to say is,make sure you get granules of powder out,but other than that,I wouldn`t go into a super duper cleaning.
again,welcome to the site.

Thanks for the welcome and your answer. I am glad there is a site like this to help people who are learning to reload. I have a friend who reloads, but I hate to keep naging him with beginners questions.
After I empty the hopper I tap it on the outside and raise and lower the handle a few times to make sure no more powder comes out the drop tube. I assume at that point that it is "clean". I can still see powder residue when looking through the hopper but none of it falls through.

you're on the right track.
also wipe down the plastic real good w/ a dryer sheet - helps w/ some of the static that sticks some of the granules.
welcome to the board!

A dryer sheet is a great idea! I'll give it a try.

I suspect most of the residue you are seeing is graphite. No big deal, but if it bothers you, the dryer sheet works well.
