The 28 ga is one of my favorite upland shotshell rounds. It is much closer to the 20 ga than the 410, which is a gauge for the expert shotgunner in my opinion and not the beginner. I can't tell a whole lot of difference in the 28 ga compared to the 20 ga as long as the shot are 35 yards or under. I love my 28 ga Beretta O/U and will be using it in South Dakota on a Nov. Ringneck Hunt. Anyone else use the 28 ga for their upland bird hunting and what type of shotgun do you use in 28 ga?

I've got a Russian Balaki O/U in 28. I love it. I paid 399.00 for it. I also have a Remington Skeet Special 1100 in 28 that's never been out of the box. I like the 28 just because it's different. I like everything that is a little different.
28 ammo is more expensive because they only make premium ammo for it, same as the 410. No loss leader ammo except for 12 & 20 and sometimes 16. You can't get 28 ammo at Wal-Mart.

I just sold one 28ga, a steel frame Citori Superlite and bought a Browning 525 three barrel set to replace it. I reload for the 28 and shoot quail and clays with the 28. My last trip to Argentina I shot ducks with my 20ga and doves with the 28, it was a real hoot.
