I have a bag of TGT12s wads that look like Figure 8 wads. But I've heard that TGT12s and Figure 8 wads are not the same. I have used the TGT12s in a 1 1/8 ounce heavy loading and nothing blew up, and there were no cracks on the case or anyting. So are they the same wad or not?

If you check out the Remington website, you will see that they have two different numbers for the wads, and the description is different for the figure 8 vs the TGT wad.....so yes, they are different.  One is described as a 1 oz wad, the other a 1 1/8th oz wad....I just can't remember which is which.

sounds to me one just has a longer shotcup. I wouldn't take chances but with that small a shot weight I dont think it matters. 1 1/2oz and above is where you should worry.

Thats what I was thinking, the shot cup length wouldn't matter much. I'll be using 1 ounce loads that say TGT 12, but I don't think that changing a wad would affect pressure much, pattern maybe.

Design load for the TGT12 is 1 ounce, for the FIG8 is 1 1/8 ounces, but 1 1/8 ounce loads can be made with the TGT12, assuming everything fits. Some light loads can be very high pressure, so refer to a manual. A quick look through a couple of manuals I have real handy, if I was loading 1 1/8 ounce in a TGT12, I would use probably Green Dot and back off a grain from FIG8 data. Red Dot looks to give high pressures with the TGT12 wad. That's what I would do, safety is not guaranteed.

green & red dot I use for light trap loads. For money shoots I loaded 1 1/8oz of 7 1/2's,6's,5's or 4's, in a Win AA 2 3/4" hull, win AA wad,209 primer and 35.3gr of HS 6(Win540) it goes out at 1425fps+.Years ago a club member loaded shells for his SKB O/U 1 1/8 oz of shot & about 21 gr of  red dot, guys would over shoot him in winks but he proved he always smoked the clays with his slower load putting guys out.

So what I'm getting is that I can use the Fig 8 wads in loadings for TGT-12S, it's just that the Fig 8 has a longer shot cup. So I have to seat the fig 8 deeper.

A longer cup and a shorter crush section. Wads are always seated firmly on the powder, so they can't be seated deeper. They can have their crush section compressed some with additional wad pressure when seating. The FIG8-style doesn't compress real well. Winchester designs are better at that. If you want to load 1 ounce in a FIG8, you'll probably need to add something, like a 20 Gauge Nitro Card or a dried pea or two, in the shotcup to make up the space. Putting a 1 1/8 ounce load into a TGT12, you might try compression if there isn't room in the shell. In your IP, you say you have a bag of TGT12 wads - try loading 1 ounce and save a couple of bucks at the same time.
