In high school sometimes I would take my parents car or truck(PU) and often would go squirrel hunting right on school grounds after the busses left. Sometimes the principal would even hunt with me/us. Those were the good old days when guns could be left in the rear window and even in unlocked vehicles. That old single shot Winchester 22 killed more squirrels than anything I have ever had since. That and an old single shot 20 gauge(I think J. C. Higgins). Gosh, those were good times. wc

I got back from Viet Nam in '67 and bought a H&R Topper w/36 in. brl. full choke, I think that I gave around $30. for it, that was the most I ever paid to get the hell beat out of me. We still have gun racks in the rear window in eastern Oregun.

My first gun at the tender age of 12. I shot a 22 in skeet with that little buggar. Of course they threw the doubles one at a time for me.
My son is one heck of a wing shooter and he started when he was 12. Grandpa gave him his Benelli . He was always a pump gun guy. He said, of firing his Benelli, "It's like shooting a cash register! There are too many parts moving."
My daughter just harvested her first buck two days before her 13th B-day. She has the rifle skills.

I have a 12 gauge Marlin and have in certs for 20 and 410 for it. You have to have the 20 gauge in cert in to use the 410. bbl is 28 in mod. and it still bunches tight with the 410. Fun to play with smacks

Friends of mine in Ontario gave me a Winchester single shot, hinged, 12g shotgun. I need to work on the rust.
The problem I have is that I hold a Ohio CCW license and that license is tied to the license plates on my van. So having shotgun in the van may not be the best thing to do.

Jerry Jerry, I'm puzzled - could you explain the problem with a shotgun in the vehicle??

I have my maternal grandfather's F.I.E. single shot 20 gauge....the thing is as straight as a board and kicks like an angry mule! Killed my first rabbit with that gun when I was 15. I asked my grandmother for the gun after he passed (it was the only gun left.....the Remington 760 & Ruger 10/22 went to other relatives), due to it's sentimental value.
I have other shotguns, but I take the F.I.E. out at least once a season (usually after rabbits) out of respect and memories of my Granddad, who is the main person who is responsible for my love of the outdoors.
