Who is the best Gunsmith you know ? (Contacts, please. Thanks).

I am going to build a rifle. Have not build 1 in 25+ years. Also have moved and don't know anyone here. Need someone that is very good at building very accurate hunting rifles.

Looking to build a 35 cal wildcat.
Looking for a shop that has

Skills in cartridge design, chambering wildcats, reamers (making them or knowing where to get them made), dies (making them or knowing where to get them made), action truing/squaring, blueing, lapping chambers, lugs, barrels, etc., etc..

I will supply a Mauser actioned donor rifle and a barrel blank.

Also, what barrels do you like ? Contour ? Fluted ? Non-fluted ?
Barrel dimensions ?
I like chrome-moly, so I will limit my choice to this type.

AND TO TOP IT ALL OFF . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . I would like to have it finished and actually shoot it, before I die of old age !

Let him know what you want.  Ask questions about components desicions.  Cartridge specs.

He's created an entire line of wildcat rounds so he knows the in's and out's of creating something from the ground up.

He's established himself quite a reputation for building extreme range, extreme accuracy rigs, both varmint and big game.

As for getting the rifle back and shooting before you pass on to the great hunting grounds     ...  his turn-around is as quick as any high demand gunsmith out there.

Send him an e-mail.  I'd give you a phone # but have found that even for me (brother), computer's the best way to get a response, short of driving up to the shop and rattling his cage.  LOL.

Throw me a pm if you haven't heard back from him in a few days and I'll tell him you're a'calling.

Another vote for Kirby Allen.  He built a full custom for me and it's the best.  He can do it all from the simplest repair to full blown customs.

I'd highly recommend him.  Any work I ever have done will go to him.
