I've read a little about the Radway Green ammo and surplus powder on this site. You may have some luck there...

I hope its good news I bought 16 pounds of it :) IMR 4895 is kinda scarce these days like anything else. Guy on gunbroker wanted 200 dollars for 8 pounds :( no thanks this RG stuff is 109 dollars per 8 pounds on Widners and i love IMR 4895.  And i didnt buy 16 pounds to "horde" just not logical to pay freight and hazmat on 8 pounds when the second 8 pounds cuts frieght in half making shipping more tolerable.

I believe from what I've read that it's good stuff...mush like the original IMR 4895.

You don't need to apologize to me for buying what quantities that you feel that you need...I get real tired real quick of hearing people snivel and whine when they hear someone say that they've bought 10,000 of this or that primer. I went through this shortage thing back in 1994 and I don't intend to be found in need of reloading supplies ever again...if you know what I mean!

welll chopper im 27 i have alot of years of shooting left in me and a lot of years of bad politics to come. I dont think it is right for people to buy 10,000 of this or 10,000 of that to sale at a ungodly proofit, but i think its each owns right to own what they want. I use 3 powders primarily and i keep alot of it around same with primers. Personal use is not Hording :)

the really bad thing about some surplus powders ? u get a couple 4 jugs so u have a bit ..u work up alot of killer loads and then the well runs dry ....having 16 #'s should give u a lil leeway to work up the loads and keep them for a bit ,if u like ur loads buy a few more #'s, i havent tried this one yet as for the longest time it seemed that i used powders more at the other ends of the scale then came varget ( try findin that today lolz )i did find a thread or two pertaining to the powder , read down a bit in the link and heck google it as well and check out ur hits

Sounds like it should be pretty good powder from what ive read. I can work a load pretty fast i think using a chronograph and matching IMR 4895s velocity with this other stuff it should perform within a grain i think the same.  Ive never used Varget ive known several people  though that do or did mostly in 223s.  I use H335 in 223s and i accumulated about 20 pounds of it before it totally dropped off the face of the earth.

These are the powders i use
H335
IMR 4895
IMR 4198
2400
Unique

I relize that some powders do better than others for accuracy in different calibers, but i like to use as much of the same powders as i can and they all give good results in the things i load for. Im not a competion shooter, i shoot rocks, taters and prairie dogs most the time so the lost accuracy of half a inch if any at all at a hundred yards or whatever doesnt really bother me to much. Hope you find some Varget fryboy but i bet youll be waitin awhile. What works for me well locating components is if i give them my email on the sight to be notified when the stuff comes back in stock. Then I forget about it and shoot something else for a couple months and when i get a email hurry and order it while i can:) Sometimes takes 2 or 3 months. Dont have any luck with midway though whatever comes in is out of stock in a hour sometimes.
