My local shop got several cases of these in, selling em for the same price as other primers $33 so I bought a box. Anyone here have experience with these? As far as I understand it, I need to treat these as magnum primers for loading purposes.

Thanks.

only one box ? u finally seen cci's since ( umm when was the last time ? lolz) when ever and only got one box ? round here when they had them they was as high as the br's .... when they first started pushing them they were cheaper than plain ones ( my dealer told me generic packaging combined with a thicker cup ) for my semi auto's i love them( will he give ya a case discount ? lolz )but yes they basically are magnum primers just as the br' are ( tho those have strides to be more uniform )the 41's were designed to be less sensitive just as the wolf's for .223 are ,hope they start bein in stock around here soon ! good score amigo ( and news )and as with any change in component drop back a bit and work up especially if runnin at the top end

I know, I know... I don't even really need these but I had to buy a box, just because. Maybe it's a sign of brighter days ahead, they also had IMR 4895 in stock. This is the store that's still selling bags of shot for $30 and primers for a reasonable price, boy I hope this magic well doesn't dry up anytime soon...

These sound really interesting, think I'll try them in my next batch of 223. I did read from a google search that some people have a hard time seating them, hope I don't run into that.

i couldnt/cant fathom having anymore difficulty than normal primers ..unless.... they dint quite get the crimp out before ....i have > 300 left .... and while i have been playing with the wolf's....i'm just not in love with them yet ( and if i can get cci's soon i wont have any need too lolz )the last cci's i bought were large rifle $31 at that time and if they would of had them the 41's would of been 38-39( i'd of also had more than 300 left now too tho lolz )oh well i do have a load i like with rp 7 1/2's and those i bump into from time to time ,the way u say "still selling shot for ..." means u havent bought it all yet  atm ...the best advice i have ...is worst comes to worse i can make shot(or slugs) ...primers is the weak link so far under the current administration

If it weren't for darn hazmat I'd send you some. Midway has an expected in stock date of today, maybe check there later on... As tempting as it is I haven't bought out their shot yet, but I bring a bag home with me each visit.

A few years ago before I got into firearms and reloading, I never would have imagined myself stockpiling lead!

I seated some of these tonight and they do offer a little more resistance than Federal. This is in virgin Hornady brass so no crimp. I think it's just because the cup is a tad harder so they don't "crush" in as easily.

They will be igniting some Varget behind 69gr SMKs so I'm expecting good things. We'll see....

Good score! I tried out my load with these primers last weekend, the results were very good. I will be sticking with these now for my AR until I run out, which hopefully won't be ever again. Things are looking much brighter these days on availability.

The box stores still don't seem to have any primers and slim picking on powder, but a couple mom and pops stores have a good supply at the moment.

If I was to buy 10 to 20 pounds of powder from Powder Valley, the hazmat charge wouldn't bother me. Thats a lot of powder, but they have it in stock and they are pretty good one price these days.

My problem at the moment is lead shot, but I will probably buy 10 bags in one of those deals that frieght is part of the price. Wish they would do that with powder and primers.

Jerry

To answer your question directly, the CCI 41's are mil spec primers and they are very good. They are not nearly as likely to slam fire in a semi automatic such as the AR 15, the Sig or the Mini 14 because of their reduced sensitivity. As well as this, they will maintain their integrity while being subjected to higher pressure loads. Their brisance is at least as intense as CCI 450's as is called for in the mil spec and they are somewhat more moisture resistant as well. A simple answer to your questions is...Yes they are good primers for general use as well as all of the above. A rifle with a light firing pin strike could have some difficulty igniting them.

 They are excellent primers and will serve you well.  I believe they are the "hottest" small rifle primer marketed by CCI with a bit more flash than the 450s.  To meet military contract specs they must also be surefire in sub zero temperatures.  This means nothing to me, but may be a plus for you.  The harder/thicker cups (to resist slam fires in semi autos) also resist primer flow in centerfires operating over 50,000 psi.  A definate advantage for reloading many centerfire cartridges. The only problem I ever experienced with them was numerous failures to fire in an older rifle with a lighter firing pin fall.  Proved to me they would better resist slam fires in semi autos as noted above.  I've used M-41s in various 22 centerfires with fine results.  I avoid them only in my 22 K-Hornet for which I feel they are vastly over powered.  I prefer small pistol primers in the Hornet with all powders I have used.  Good luck.  I predict you will find the M-41s equal or better than most small rifle primers on the market.
