l use WSP`s simply cause I can get them cheap locally..Just for shits and giggles, does anyone have a favorite preference with the,I really don`t place much precedence on pistol primers for plinking like I do my rifle cartridges..How about you?

I use either WSP or CCI.   It comes down to what the local store has on hand when I'm buying.  Both brands have worked fine in my small pistol loads.

CCI 500s have worked 100% in my 9mm reloads, so far.

For plinking I use whatever is cheapest--the main thing is that they go bang  when the trigger is pulled:thumbs:

Unlike rifle primers, I haven't done enough experimentation to know the difference.

I've got the super mixture in the cabinet....WOW!  Maybe I need to get some and get rid of the problems I'm about to have with these here?

Which one do you handgun guru's recommend?  Have access to CCI and Winchester at work....and I'd get 20% off(unless it's on employee appreciation day-then it's 30%!)  Not to worried about most loading for handgun, except maybe the Ruger SuperRedHawk in .454Casull{those get rifle primers anyway}....

Couple of flats ought to be enough for the summer.....maybe?

I see you like H110 too ! I use it in my Ruger SRH Casull and S&W 440 XVR also. Like you I use rifle primers in those and all others what ever I can. Usually Win. and CCI. In my Rem 300 Rum and 7 mag only Federal 215 mag primers.

I use the H110 in my .454 as well. I use the Fed primers just cause that is what the closest place sells. I have been pleased with mine.

Force, do they put that purple coating on the pistol primers too or you are probably using small rifle primers in 454. If so , do they ? I was told the purple coating was something to inhance the ignition. Anybody else heard of this with Fed. primers. Maybe only on the lg. rifle mag primers ?

I use the rifle primers on the .454. I have noticed the purple but really havent paid much attention to it. I do sometimes use sealer on my primers for hunting ammo. Just in case in those wet situations.

I use a little bit of everything CCI has to offer in my handgun reloading.  Not a clear cut favorite being used as the Federal 215's are in my rifles :

CCI 500 - .357 Sig, .40 S&W, 7.62x25 Tok, 9x18 Mak, 9mm WinMag

CCI 300 - 10mm Auto, .45 ACP

CCI 350 - .44 RemMag, .50 AE, .45 WinMag,

CCI 450 - .454 Casull,

CCI 200 - .375 SuperMag, .500 S&W Mag

I keep the powder usage simplified, too.  H110 and Blue Dot run in everything 'cept the Mak.  Switched to TiteGroup in that little sucker.  Chat with you guys later.  >>  klallen

Klallen, I'll probably get scolded for going off topic. I guess that's what the pm's are for. Curious if you ever used W296 in your 500 SW,454 Casull and 44 mag ? I use H110 and W296 not much difference in burn but very close to same accuracy as H110 in my 44 mag, 454 Casull and 460 SW.

I loaded the .257's today with 215's. Should I use those or the 210's? They will be lighting upper 80 grains of Retumbo.

Retumbo ! The powder I use for my .300 RUM. Definitly use 215 or other mag primers. It's a very slow burner. I use 215's also. For 7 mag too. Never tried Retumbo in the 7 mag yet... I use 101 grs for a 180 gr. and 105-106 for a 150.

I loaded some with 86 88 and 89 grains. I hopefully will get to test them tomorrow. I am anxious to see what kind of velocity I can get out of them.

Evening W300R  >>  Nope.  H110's all I've used.  My .44 was the first handgun purchase I made and worked up it's load using H110.  When the Casull came along, being an optimum powder for it as well, I thought it made sense to stick with one powder for both rounds.  Then came the .375, .50 AE and on and on.  Now I have enough rounds that respond real well to H110 I dare say I'll never switch up.  Nice having one powder cover so many bases.  Same goes with Blue Dot and my smaller capacity stuff.

Howdy, FRM  >>  Not sure who you're asking but if it were my .257 STW, I'd certainly stick with the Fed. 215's.

Later guys.  >>  korey
