I've worked up loads in the past in some of my .223 (Nosler in particular) only to have them discontinue the bullet.
So I went to the new fangled ballistic tips and they shoot great but I'm not getting the explosion of feathers and or fur I see on some of the varmint videos. They're dead with a wound two fingers wide and all but what do the rest of you experience?
I picked up 4 boxes of .224 50 grain hollow point TNT thinking I should get the big puff of feathers and or fur flying and have yet to test them out.
Anyone try those 30 cal TNT for coyote?

I have used the TNT's for target shooting. You have to be careful with velocity with these bullets. They have to be kept below 3000 fps. You can get a decrease in accuracy as you approach 3000. At least thats my experience with them.

Dust, like busted clays, would suit me.

Chunks of meat and fur flying through the air is about right.

Those 'explosive' type kills that you mention come from bullets that are right on the edge of being ripped apart. Fast twist rifles(1:10" or faster), with light thin skinned projectiles are the ticket here. How fast to push them? Just below the point where you'd get the 'poof' of the projectile out of the barrel.... That velocity takes a little patients in load development, but that's half the fun!!
In the .223Rem:
I've used bullets like the 35gr Hornady with 28grs of AAC#2230 and CCIBR primers - velocity was about 3825fps (any faster out of my Savage BV12 with 1:8" twist would 'mist' at 15yards from muzzle)....
I've used the 40gr Speer with 28.9gr(very compressed) of VV N133 and CCIBR primers - velocity was about 3885fps (same results out of the Savage BV12).....
These two loadings above should be reduced by 10% and worked up watching for pressure, especially on warmer days(the powder wasn't Varget and neither liked it hot outside-primers became overly flattened and some case swelling during one outing that was in temps of 90*F)..... But these two made for some super explosive kills on Rocky Raccoon! Nasty pictures!!

In this post I was talking about the 30 cal TNT bullets.
