I had a bud talk me into trying RL- 19 powder in my 270 Win. and Rl - 22 in my WSMs. He claimed that I would get as good or better velocities with less pressure. I'll be damned if he wasn't right. I am getting 3075 fps. plus in a 270 Win. 22" bbl.and 59gr. of RL 19 and 130gr. jacketed bullets and the same powder charge with 140 gr. Barnes3Xs with no visible pressure signs ie. flattened primers, bolt face marks, hard bolt lift etc. With H-4350 at the same velocity my primers start to flatten pretty good. As per Hodgens' web site, RL19 is in between 4350 and 4831 in burning rate.

Has anyone else had the same experience? Will try some RL-22 in my 270 WSM next.

Yes, RL-19 is one of my favorite powders. It is the only powder I use in my 6.5-06 since trying it.

I use Reloader 22 in my 270 Winchester and it groups the 130 gr Hornady Interbonds right at 1/2 inch. In my 270 WSM I use MagPro with the 140 Nosler Accubonds and three shots are touching at 100 yards . I tried Reloader 19 and it didn't group as well as Rel 22.:thumbs:

Fella's;

I use RL19 in my .338 Winchester magnum with the 225 gr bullets.  It gives me excellent velocity with apparant low pressures.  I've gotten 8 reloads from Winchester brass with no signs of brass distress.

My only gripe with it is, it's a dirty powder.  Takes a lot of cleaning IMHO, and I hate the chore of cleaning a gun.

Reloder 19 is also very good with a 140 grain bullet in the Remington 7mm mag

Yep, Re19 is a great powder. I followed a book recipe for my .257 AI with IMR 4350 and was it scary. I went to Re19 and the pressure problems went away. I also experimented with H4831 and it was great for that rifle as well. The 4350 is still a good powder for the 30'06, however.:thumbs:
