Hey guys I am purchasing a new 25-06. I will be reloading for it and want to get a jump start on the thought process of what bullets I want to use. This is going to be my deer possibly antelope gun. Just wondering what bullets are you guys' favorites for this application in 25cal. Thanks for any info
Greg

I load the 100 Grain Ballistic Tip Nosler to 3000 fps in my .257 Roberts rifles.
Its a deadly combo on deer and there's no reason why it wouldnt work great on pronghorns.
For the 25-06 you might wish to try the 120 grain version of the same bullet.
(shoot behind the shoulder not at the shoulder and I've never seen a deer yet that moved out of his tracks except to fall over)

I had a honey of a load worked up for my .25-06 using a 100 gr. Ballsitic Tip. Accurate; fast. My rig and that load was used for longer range varminting. My bro used this bullet to take lots of deer but I never did. The bullet just seemed like it was teetering on the brink between varmint / big game bullet, for me personally.
When the 110 gr. AccuBond was introduced, I reworked a load using it. R22 and Fed215 got just over 3300 fps. I've enjoyed a good bit of success with this bullet on one antelope buck and 2 large Mulie buck hunts.
Good luck to ya with your .25-06. klallen

Thanks guys. I had a 243 that I used but had a chance to sell it and make a little more than I bought it for. So I need to replace it as my deer antelope gun. (need is a relative term when you have a big collection of rifles that could be usedto do the job) I looked at 243, 6mm, 25-06, 257 weatherby / roberts. I settled on 25-06 and I am getting a Browning Xbolt stainless synthetic.

Depends really on what you're going to shoot and what shoots good in your particular gun. Out of my .257 Roberts I've had excellent results both on paper and on critters with the 100 gr. Ballistic tip, 100 gr. Partition, 117 gr. Hornady SST and the now out of production 90 gr. Barnes X (boy. I wish they'd bring that bullet back!). For varmints, the 75 grain Hornady Vmax at about 3400 fps vaporizes coyotes. the best on paper bullet I've used is the 100 gr. Sierra BT. Try them all. It may cost you some money, but you'll get to shoot alot.

+1 for Nosler 100g ballistic tip. Some will say it may be a little light for deer, but its super accurate in my rifle. Hit 'em right and they fall over.

I have a Sendero in 25-06 that did not like anything but a Hornady 120 grain with 50.0 grains of IMR4350. It's a tad over max according to the books.
I have taken 2 deer now with it now and feeling a little more confident about it. (I'm pretty much a 30-06 200 grain Partition man)
I have been using it primarily for fox and coyote. This is last weeks varmint.

It will do alot of damage if it hits bone in close which this fox was at about 65 yards.

In my 25-06 I use the CT 115 gr BST for deer and it kills them very dead right now. For varmints I use the 75 gr V-max.

I use the 117 grain Hornady interbond and the 100 grain Sierra Gameking spbt in my .257 Wby Mag. They both shoot great and are devestating on anything they hit (whitetail deer and varmints).

I feed my .257AI Sierra 120gr HPBT for deer size game, and I shoot the Nosler 85gr BT for varmints. I took my barren ground caribou last year at 250 yards. He was bedded down in tall grass and I aced him in the neck, right behind the head. Only shot I had. Have fun working up your loads!

I got a 25-06 Encore with the 28" barrel a couple years ago. Live in Wyo, and have shot everything here in the past with other calibers.
Experimented with only a few bullets: the 110 Accubonds are accurate, fly good, and cost more. The antelope I poked in the ribs at 200 yds. keeled over, but the bullet really didn't open up much - the goats don't have enough 'sectional density' to get expansion going IMO. If/when I point this thing at elk, I'll be using the remaining 110 Accubonds.
Loaded plain-Jane 100 gr. Hornady SP's and got slightly better groups than the AB's: .65 inch vs. .75, so am happy with that. For sure, they bang-flop antelope better because they do open up easier. And they cost half as much which is important to me cuz I spend a lot of time at the range. I wouldn't hesitate to shoot any deer with the Hornadys.
Have never shot the heavier bullets, but am intrigued by the Hornady 120 HP. Have read some web info that this is a big game bullet that performs well. People think that since it's HP it must be a varminter or something, but Hornady says otherwise.
The 75 gr. V-max's fly good and are devastating for sure. I picked up a pile of Berger 87 gr and 95 gr match bullets. They are used on paper and prairie dogs, the 95's a little more accurate.
