Nova, What hull, wads, and primers are you using? As I've said before, shotshell reloading isn't a mix and match affair. For ducks you'll need non toxic shot and the required wads for same. The base wads and construction of the different brands of hulls makes for different internal volumes. In some cases some brands of wads will not seat properly with some powders, as wad construction holds the wads too high. Other wads are too small for some brands of hulls and will let powder leak by the wads up the side walls between the wad and hull. I'll check for loads but not without knowing your components exactly. BTW most powder company websites have tons of load data on line. The Hodgdon/IMR website for shotshell reloading is here. http://data.hodgdon.com/shotshell_load.asp
There are no 700X loads listed for non toxic loads that I could see on this site however. 700X is normally used for 1 oz and 1 1/8 oz target loads. To load shotshells powder is not normally the first thing you choose. Normally you start with your hulls, define the FPS and weight of the load you want to achieve with the type of shot you are using, choose the appropriate wads for the hull and shot weight, and then look at the powder and primer you need. For heavy loads in 12 guage you may want 800X, Blue Dot, or Longshot. RD

| Nova, I use this forum for fun too. I mean no disrespect here at all. I just don't want to see a new reloader get hurt and it's a lot easier to do with shotshell loading than any thing else. No where in your post did you mention steel or your components. Ballistic Products are great. I use some myself. They have data for their components available for sale on their website. I'm sorry if you were offended by my reply, but, if you ask for advice you get advice. If you don't like the form it takes I guess that's your choice. I'll not annoy you with my advice from now on. | oh I guess I mentioned steel in the shotgun forum only. I went to hodgodon.com and found a good duck load. they just dont offer as much option or volocity as the manuals you buy. but its cheaper than store bought shells.

| Some duck hunting friends told me what they used for sky busting ducks and geese when lead shot was legal Win 540(HS6) & Win 571.At the time I was really into money shoots so I tried Win 540 & started busting clays & winning meat & money also used the same loads for calif grey squirrels ,grouse & mtn quail.Another club member & I would go to Bower Wholesale on Hill St in LA and buy shot, wads & 12 pound kegs of Win 540 which we'd go thru in approx 3 months.I also used a lot of Blue Dot.
