got ahold of some 168 gr. A-max's for my 300 wsm would this bullet work for whitetail deer and maybe a few hogs,or would it fragment too bad? been using 150 gr. ballistic silvertip and taken about 10 deer with them but the silvertips explode too. every deer was a one-shot deal, If the A-max's can at least match the performance of the silver-tip in the killing dept. but better in the accuracy dept. I will gladly switch. just looking for some input....

Check Hornady's web site to see what they have to say about it.
Or just call. They will let you talk to a ballistician that I am sure can answer all your questions. They helped my when I had questions.

I used the 155 grain A-max for shooting red foxes with my .308Winch. and they worked very brutal on those small animals, almost like a V-max.
I would most certainly not use those on a deer from which I want to save the meat for the kitchen.
They are very accurate in my rifle and are designed as target bullets, and I think, that is exactly what they are.
Try the 165 grain Nosler Accubond and you will not be dissapointed!

Paul T.
