So to all that reload rifle on the forum, what is the one powder that you just have to have on your shelf? The one that you have found to do pretty much all that you need doing in various calibers you load for.
For me it is reloader 15, it has worked in pretty much every cartridge I have tried it in. Sometimes not the fastest but more often than not it has been the most accurate. I can usually stalk close enough to the game I am after that velocity is not too much of an issue, but being able to place the bullet where I want it is. My favourite deer load for my 30-06 is the 180 Nosler Ballistic tip at 2500 fps. Shoots small groups consistently in summer or winter. Drops big deer fast and does not tear them up like full power loads.

H4895
If you could prime a 22LR, you could use it.

| Would need two powders at least, Unique for handguns, and Varget for rifles. If REALLY pushed, I could live with Unique only and shoot nothing but cast in my rifles.

So for rifle only you would choose varget? Excellent choice! lucky for us we are not limited in our powder choices I have pretty much every powder one could ever want on hand for anything from centefire .22's up to the 458 Win Mag If I could not get my paws on RL-15 I would choose IMR-4064 instead with varget a close second.

VARGET for my rifles..
Power Pistol for my pistols..
hands down...My go to powders for many of my cartridges..
RL22..imr 4350 and 4831 seconds
Unique a close second for pistol powder in my cabinet..
I keep many pounds of Varget on hand, all the same lot for uniformity..

One powder for rifles would be 4759 for cast bullets, because with minimal cash outlay one could do a WIDE range of calibers with it.
Revolvers would be Unique, again with cast.

| I think the worlds greatest powder is 4895. However it does not work very well in 45 ACP.

H4895 for me, for the rifles I load for - all except the venerable .22 Hornet.
Red Dot for my handguns. Seems to be more consistent than Unique for me.

This was a great question.. I am more of the survival guy although i do work up very accurate loads for my rifles.. i am not so concerned about the pistol, i find that most group fine at the distance i will be shooting..
I use universal or blue dot/green dot for the pistol but will pick up some unique after reading this.. and some varget.. although those might not be the poweders that would give me the most accurate load i could use it in a variety of calibers in a pinch..
my goal is to have alot of powder on hand that i can use in alot of calibers.. especially when you get into the larger calibers you need more powder to fill the case.. in the pistol 5lbs can go along way..
I hope more people weigh in on this.. i am also considering RL-15
i load
rifle.. 7mm rem mag, .243, .223
pistol.. 9mm. .40 s&w, .45 acp
can anyone tell me one powder i can use for all.. keep in mind i want more accuracy from the rifles.. and with the pistols i do shoot alot of cast

I just made a major switch to Bullseye for my handguns - a lot of guys rave about it, and Sportsman's Warehouse here locally had a good price on an 8-pound jug. I already had bough two one-pound jugs - so I have plenty on hand.
I still prefer Lil Gun for my .357 Magnum though - same velocity as other powders, less pressure and felt recoil. Meters very nicely, and shows very good consistency.

Universal Clays for handguns and shotguns.
I probably use H4831 more than anyting else. .06, .270. .243, 6.5.
4895, Varget, 3031 are all good all around powders. Anything in a .06 type case does well with 4350

| To choose one powder for rifle, I go for IMR 4350. I can load the majority of my rifles with it: .270, 30-06, 300WSM with my favorite bullet, 165 gr Hornady Interlock. Works great on deer and elk.
