Song Dog, I've used 68gr BTHP's in my AR using W748-25.5gs and Varget-24.5gs, with a COAL of 2.250", Win case, WSR primer.    They cycled well and gave good accuracy.    Hope you find a good load.

LOL! I haven't tried them yet. I need to get off my duff or quit working and just do the hunting and reloading thing. I would like it a whole lot better.

No, I haven't got around to it yet. I use just VARGET so I will try 24.5 1st. I will load 3 and shoot them along with some others i try at the range. As soon as I do this I'll post it. I am still playing around with the 60 V-Max also. I can't wait to find the RIGHT load. I know when I do it will be LETHAL:thumbs:

God Bless,

Song Dog

`Hey SongDog.I used them in the rifle that is now chambered as a 223 AI.GR this is the bullets I used in the KingPin challenge. My load was 25 grains of Varget I think and they managed to  average out 3 , 10 shot groups slightly under an inch. That is not bad at all considering firing 10 shots instead of 3 or 5 where mr flyer may not show up.

If I recall ,DeadDog won the match with his KingPin modified AR-15 and the same bullet with 25.2 grains of Varget.

SongDog this load is getting into pressure signs so be careful with it and work up to this bud.I know you already know this but I don`t want to see anybody harm themselves or a fine weapon with stuff loaded too hot.

Gene

Hey bea.As of today nothing has been killed with it but paper.I planned to go calling this evening but the oldest sons Jeep was brokedown and I got into putting a new slave cylinder and line in it this evening so no luck today.

I consider the 223 Ack to be extremely accurate for an out of the box stock barrel. As a wise old benchrest shooter named Max told me,you aren`t going to get much better than what she is shooting unless you spend money.I am really happy with it so far.I have no problems keeping it under a half inch with three shots but I always throw a flyer somewhere in a 10 shot group which is normal for me anymore.:sad:That is me though and it is not the rifle.I know a slight different ride on the rifle or a tad off in breathing and I flyer one.

Fiftydriver shot it and he said he thinks it will 1/4 moa but I haven`t been able to break that yet.I hope it will happen  ,it shot the 68 gr HPBT and 75 gr AMAX`s great when it was astandard 223.Now its shooting the 55 gr Nosler BT`s better than I had expected and I picked up a box of 50 gr BT`s the other day but I haven`t had a chance to try them yet.

Timber,  funny you should mention Deaddogs load info.  I happen to have his target from the BSB shoot.  Max sent it to me by mistake and Deaddog said he didn't care if he got it back.  Maybe someday he'll want it back and I'll send it to him.   Anyway....

He used a 69gr Sierra BTHP, Win brass & primers, Varget - 25.3gs, OAL - 2.260".    With the "KP Special" he averaged .564" for 30 shots.

Ahh.Hey GR.I had forgotten his load info.I thought it was the Hornady bullet he used.Pretty good reccomendation for Varget either way  for 68-69-70 grain bullets too. When you get a chance would you take a pic of that target for me?

Gene,  you weren't that far off DD's load data.  Heck, all I remembered was he shot the tricked out AR and shot it damn good!   On his target he shot the lower left first, then the upper right and then upper left.  His last shot is the one a little out of the group.  If he'd kept that one in there he would have averaged LESS than 1/2".
