Boy, I'm almost afraid to mention mine then, lest some diety be watching and decide to "call mine home".

Bought my RCBS tumbler back in about '83/84 or so, still going strong (although, it has been unused for a lot of that time, from time to time. Mine does not walk arround, so I can, and have, sat it on my bench, but it normally sits under the end of the bench on the concrete floor, right next to the 5-gal bucket I use to catch media when I empty it out (sifting it thru the slatted inner lid while running upside-down).

Only trouble it has is the wiring will not stay held good inside the in-line switch, and last spring, suddenly it quit, the neutral in the switch had broken @ the solder. Strip, resolder, screw switch back together, it may go another decade straight. :)

eh i'm, still at a toss up ...midway says their quik n ez bowls do not interchange with the older tumblers, common sense would try to imply that they older ones then wont work on the newer ones but common sense isnt always there ( partly why i asked if anyone had real life experience with the new sheen and old bowls) the harbor freight knock off is out tho it looks eerily similar...ditto for what ever cheap brand that simmons sells..i'm sure that i'll end up with a new one ( hopefully compatible) and a replacement motor (if i can jury rig it it'll be there )since i believe that if i returned it to midway that i'd get the new style one in return ( and unless it works with my moly bowls....i dont want it )fart fans are cheap just need the right donor lolz

Dry Gulch has the answer, those exhaust fan motors are commonly avaliable and fairly cheap.

My 25+ year old Lyman 1200 motor died last week. Took it out yesterday and I'm taking it with me to an electrical supply house tomorrow just to insure a replacement will match the mounting holes, I do think they are mostly interchanable.

Will get one with ball bearings instead of bronze sleeve bearings if I can, don't want it going out on me so soon again.

Should be around $15-20 dollars, I think, and I'll have it spinning again tomorrow night..

the key difference i have found is the shaft size ...would work but would need a diff fan and counterweight ... from my searches it seems that lyman sells a direct replacement for theirs (midway says send it back but not if my extra bowls wont fit the new one lolz )not sure on ur lyman's shaft size the 1292's is .310 as opposed to the more common .250 i have found ...for that matter bushings and bearings are replaceable in a worse case scenario sleeve type bearings are rather easy to make (thaz this ones problem the lower bearing is about shot )grainger's price for the ball bearing one is more than the tumbler cost lolz

more spec's on midway's
the holes are 1.880 center to center wide
and .970 apart(c to c again) up and down
while there should be another one in route within a couple of days i'll know then whether or not the old bowls will work on the new fa style if they do ..i'll send this one back lolz,i used to have a couple of spares but some one wanted to buy one and another i gave to a friend who had the need, berry's replaced my old one and that i sold ( tho it did work pretty decent before it quit )the hornady was discontinued and no parts back then and another friend wanted the bowl,as i said i cant complain mine lasted along time  if i get a rain day i can check the electric places

Welcome to the site.  I have the same type tumbler from Midway, on the recall list but never did anything about it.  Don't know about replacement motors.

Good looking horses.  I have two of them, Quarterhorse and Azteca, both geldings.

I had a Lyman tumbler burn out after many years of service, which is why I bought the Dillons. I think every one should look at the motor and the armature shaft, my old Lyman as well as the Dillons I bought have an off set on the shaft, this is to make the unit slightly unbalanced and then it shakes and tumbles your brass.

If a tumbler has lasted 10 years it has lived a good life. Plus replacing the motor may cost more than the tumbler cost.

Jerry

I bought a Lyman 2500.The 4 little bowls from my old midway & Gem polisher only needed a 5/16 drill to open up the mounting hole.Still havent finished the tire tumbler.

thaz a huge tumbler ( umm ok not compared to the tire one ...lolz )granted at least that one had a sealed lid ( a plus in my book )that was about the only thing stoppin me from the humble 1200,i admit that i'm perhaps a bit anal on the cleaning of the cases but most of mine was in the smaller load capacities,i rarely polish more than2-300 in a load(helps keep them sorted that way )i have until i leave for work in the mornin to change my order (oops)i dug out the old big vibra tech( anyone remember them ? lolz )but a different motor setup(and the noisiest one i ever tried )
thanx for the tip on that wheezer ! it's good to know !

seems to be more to this lolz isnt there always ? it is indeed a specialty motor and so far the only ones i find are pushed by dayton ( so far ) not counting the fan and the new stud kit ( since the stack on there's is 1/2" longer)base price ? just under $60 lolz tho they do have one for * more that has a shaft close enough for the old counterweight and fan to fit for another 9 bucks ( plus still need longer mounting bolts) keep in mind that i did have a rain day and apparently alot of electrical places in the city are within a mile or so of each other .... they all reffered me to grainger's lolz umm which was across town and in the wrong direction ( so far maybe next trip) still have to talk to me electrician buds so .....

i got a thumler's tumbler uv-18 that i got in 1981. the motor went out two years ago. not bad for a motor that never got any oil in the two oil holes. i call the company and they sent me a replacement motor for a small price. it dropped in and i was back up and running. the new motor does not have any oil holes. it is a sealed motor. it should go for another 20 plus years with out any problems.

thanx for the good advice wheeze !
i been usin the lyman for two days now ( twice with my midway bowls)i also grabbed a frankford arsenal one yup with the hard clear plastic lid, side by side the fa one is quieter and 2/3 full of media seems to be a bit much for it tho they both work great ( so far)
btw ? lyman's instruction book seems to cover about all their products (all in english only btw )and they even thru in a cd of their catalog ,their replacement motor comes with the base ,if i cant find a cheap enough motor to fix it (under 50 total including new studs if needed )i'll buy smaller base and turn my buddy on to it ( he needs one anyways )all the fart fans i find so far have much smaller shafts and thicker stacks
