I cooked up a load for my .270win. remington 700 ks, using the 130gr Speer grand slam bullet, 53.8 grains of winchester 760 powder and cci mag primers. This load shoots great in my rifle. I just don see many people posting about the grand slam bullets. I have shot several deer with this load and it is deadly.

afternoon anvilhead >> i don't really know why there isn't more talk about the grand slams. i haven't heard much use of them either. they're a good enough bullet, i'm sure. maybe preferences just don't lean towards speer stuff. no clue.
i'm a nosler fan. accubonds are what i prefer in my big game rifles. got the 130's running in my .270 . they're about $5 less per 5o then the speer gs's but really that's a non-issue. truthfully, it's just a preference. i don't use the rifle much but when i have, i've been pleased.
regarding your grand slams, make sure you don't hold back with your experiences and game pics using the bullet. educate those that may not use them on how they perform. even if others aren't using your components we all like reading good stories and seeing pics of the results.
take care. >> klallen

Hi,
Well I have not tried the 165's but have had great success with the 180 Grand Slam's
I have used them in my .300 Win Mag for a number of years.
This is a no frills Interarms Mauser Action 1" or less @ 100yds
Let me say there is nothing that will put a bigger smile on you then recovering a bullet form your animal and seeing the "GS" marking on the back of the bullet.
Not a reason to buy them... But Kinda Cool...
I have recovered at least 3 bullets from animals using the Grand Slam.
I've used it on Elk, WT, Mule Deer, Mt Goat (465 yds) On my once in a lifetime trip to Zimbabwe in 1998 I used it on several animals.
On one of my "Best Ever" hunting days CO public land I shot a 4x5 Elk 3rd day first light. Then after dressing it and when just about done skinning all the hide off (it was warm)... Along comes a 4x4 Muley. There is me..against the tree is my 300. I jump for it he turns and angles away & I put one clear through him through the vitals and found the bullet just under the skin on the front end.
50yds apart both tags filled. Found the bullet... big ol' GS on the back picture perfect mushroom shape.
I contrast or side note (but it still killed the animal) I found a Nosler Partition that looked like a rounded smooth soda can. All the rest had blown or burned off on the way through. That was a .280 Remington 140 grain NP on a Kudu. Almost elk size but tougher skinned, They found my bullet on the far shoulder. It did the job and the partition part held the back side of the bullet together. So it worked and all the energy went into the animal. If it were not a quality bullet it may well or would have blown apart. Who knows if it would have done the job.
Anyway... The Grand Slams that I have found have held together wonderfully and I have found no fault and good accuracy with the Grand Slam bullets
Hope this helps, Good Luck Ron

I've used and had good success with grand slams. The 285 gr. .375 is one of my favorite bullets, as long as you don't expect too much out of it. It's not a bonded bullet, but 90% of the time i don't need or desire a bonded bullet.

It has a dual alloy core, softer in the front and a protected point ala similar to the mag tip. The bc is lower than most others of the same weight but not enough to matter at game shooting ranges. The GS performs very well on game heavier than deer and should be more popular than it is.It might do well on deer, but i don't know.

I have just loaded some 180 grain GS in 308 Win and 300 RUM for some practice shooting. I will probably use milk jugs that contain frozen water as my targets at 100 yards, with a large sheet of paper behind the jug to see the spray and break up pattern, if any.
I think the idea is really great behind these bullets, just hope they don't prove me wrong.

Well I have had wonderfull success with them 180's in my 300 Win Mag. 24" barrel bolt action.
Probably 10+ deer and 4 elk
I would not hesitate using them on any game within that cartridge's capability.
I have seen no evidence of bullet failure.
But there are other good ones out there too.
I think it comes down to what brands and bullets your dealer(s) stock.
And how mych they are hyped.
