In looking through a G&A magazine from Nov 1985 I found an article on Steelhead cases for reloaders. It's a two piece design, with the case head being stainless steel and the body being brass. The two pieces screw together. The article said they're available in '06 and belted magnum sizes, and are long enough to be shaped into any modern round.
The idea was since the case head is usually the first thing to go, these steelheads could be used at maximum pressures almost indefinitely. Some people were reported to use over maximum loads that were in the 80,000 psi range. Those are the guys trying to get super velocities from an '06 case. The author John Wooters didn't care for that aspect as there will likely be problems developing with the rifle; locking-lug setback, stresses to the action, bore errosion and magnified recoil.
I've never seen or heard of these cases until now. And I don't think I'd use them if they were still available. Any of you ever see them?
