I have several hundred 100 grain hollow-base wad-cutter lead bullets. They're supposed to be for the .32 S&W Long case, so I am assuming they are .314 inch.
I've been looking for load data for these bullets, so far without success. Could some kind soul take pity on me and point the way to a couple of recipes for making them punch neat holes in a piece of paper? Thanks in advance,
B. Bill

from an old Lymann manual.
Bullseye, Start 1.5 gr, 610 fps, max 2.0 gr, 730fps.
Unique, Start 2.5 gr at 695, 4 gr max at 960. ( This was the old unique)
An old Speer manual ( #8) shows a 32 S&W long as . 312,not .314
It does not list 100 gr,but a 95 gr that you could use.
Unique 3.0-762, 3.5 -898
Bulseye 2.2 -743, 2.4 - 811
It list some other powders, but they are no longer available.
Factory was a 98 gr bullet at 742 fps.
Checking several old manuals I have I found none of the 32 's with bullet diameters over .313.
If your gun is an old top break open model, be very careful with loads

Yea, don't get in over your pay grade.

My Lyman 45th manual lists 93 gr and 115 gr cast bullets, using Bullseye, Red Dot and Unique. Also claims bullet dia .310-.313"
93gr
B/E - 1.4-2.7 gr R/D - 1.7-3gr Uni - 2.5-4.3gr Accuracy load 2.7gr B/E 846fps
115 gr
B/E - 1.3-1.8gr R/D - 1.6-2.1gr Uni - 2-3.5gr Accuracy load 1.6gr R/D 494fps
My Hornady 6th shows 90gr Semi and Hollow-base wadcutters, .314" dia
Charges of 700X and HP-38 from 1.4-1.9gr (both)
The same Bullseye, Red Dot, and Unique loads, about 1.0 gr lighter
Green Dot from 1.7-2.2gr, Winchester 231 1.8-2.5gr. All loads running from 700 to 750fps.
Speer #13 shows .314" 98gr HBWC's similar data adding in Herco (2-2.2gr), Accurate Arms #5 (2.5-2.7gr), PB (1.5-1.7gr), all in the mid-700fps range.
Hope that helps.

You could shoot them in your Enfield or Mosin/Nagant over 12 grains of Red Dot.

I use the Magtech ".32" bullets in 98 grain for my Nagant revolver - they are .312" diameter LRN. Work fine. I load to approx. 750 FPS.

What cartridge are we talking about?

There's too many choices that could use that bullet.

Gentlemen and Ladies,
Please keep the cursing to a minimum, the easiest way is to do something like $h!t. We may have some young folks reading our forum.
What cartridge are planning on using and what weapon do you want to fire these in?

Dial calipers and a scale will really help. Measure and weight just one bullet and you know what you have. I did load some 311 bullets in my 32 long. The bullet's were loose in the case but didn't shoot to bad! I think the only thing holding them in was the crimp!

Don,
I would have wrapped teflon tape or used a paper wrap to tighten the bullets. It's a lot of fun to experiment with old and new ideas.

Use caution using old manuals for loads. Powders can change a bit from generation to generation. I have used "Old loads" from and old Lyman manual (circa 1949) for some 30-06 loads. What should have been a light to moderate load turned out to be a pretty hot-rod recipe with the newer manufacture powder I was using. My FN action held up but the bolt was hard to open and the primer leaked. I broke this rule when I was much younger and dumber.
Regards,
Bill
