USN 63-70.  Basic at GLAKES, MM School at GLAKES, NAVNUCPWR at Bainbridge, prototype at Windsor retained for staff, SubSchool at NLON, to USS Gato (SSN615) 3355/3356 and out.  MM1(SS) (PNA for E-7, not enough time in) when I left for college.  Saw a lot of green and cold thru the periscope, and a few "ports of call."  Some was fun, some not, but still happy that I did a bit.

 USMC 81-85  Hollywood Marine

stationed at CamPen did 2 floats

places I went in USMC

Okinawa  (who didnt:wink:)Koriea,Philipienes, Japan,Panima,Diego Garcia,

after being on liberty for 20 years, and I kept hearing about guys from my old unit 3/5 getting KIA,I joined a guard unit that was ramping up for Iraq  SEMPER FI !!!

I may wear the Army uniform but my heart and soul will always be MARINE!!!!! even after almost 25 years when I wright my MOS I still put 0311 unstead of 11B  LOL

Things sure have changed in 20 years, not all for the better either in my opinion,or maybe its just the differance between active duty and National Guard most likely a little of both:confused:

The tools of the trade have changed also, when I got out in 85 I either carried a 1911 or a M16A1,I wore a steel pot,a PRK 77 didnt take a colladge degree to operate, the utility vehicle was a jeep,GPS was a map and compass, ect, ect

 ARNG  2005- not sure

WOW I need to update mine.  I went back in (the Oregon Air National Guard, this time) in June of 2007 I just could not hack being a civilian.  I'm due to sew on SSGT in June, I found out late after I did all my promotion stuff (paper work got sent up the street to MPF, got new uniforms, as directed we found out) that My time in grade got started over due to my break in service, so in june when I get my 2year time in grade I'll finally get SSGT sewn on.
I'm now a f-15 Crew Cheif at the 142fighter wing in Portland Oregon. http://www.142fw.ang.af.mil/

Well, I was drafted in 1969 and expected the very worst. Basic in Ft Bliss (had to named after somebody because it sure as hell wasn't for the climate) then MP school in Agusta GA at Ft Gordon, then on to San Antonio for Sentry Dog School. Had orders for Korea, but Chicago ran out of Dog Handlers and I ended up there. Participated in the several battles of Jackson Park (wouldn't you just know there was no press anywhere to take my picture) Walked into the USO Downtown one day and 18 months later I woke up married. Still have that wife, sure miss that dog.

Feel like a piker compared to the load you other fellas toted, but nobody on my watch stole any Herc's, not even that fella wearing General's Stars and carrying a Colonel's ID.

There seems to ba fair amount of animosity on the part of folks wearing General's Stars that don't have proper ID or a copy of their Promotion Orders, so they only allowed me the one tour. Something about taking things too seriously or some such just because he couldn't send me to jail.

Still have a hard time passing anybody in the Airports in Uniform without saying THANKS.

After ETS I also joined a few un named NG and Reserve units. At that time both were full of untrained knuckleheads IMO,as a result I did not stay long with any of them and gave it up. Also glad to hear the NG and Reserve units are no longer that way.

USMCR, 9 yrs from 3045 at PI 17 Sept. '67, on to Geiger and the roaches at the chow hall when we had that "privilege". Originally a truck driver, then to a warehouseman, then a mechanic, and back to supply. Did a bit of small bore competition and worked with the honor guard for a bit. wc

Enlisted in the USAF. Went in June 1994 and left June 1998. I was stationed at Holloman AFB, NM. I traveled to Kuwait and Saudi Arabia for 3 months each tour. I left as a Senior Airman. I went in a Security Police and I left as Security Forces! I still consider myself  Security Police.
