Has anybody here ever used a Volquartsen trigger in your 10/22? Your thoughts on it? Was it worth the price as far as a marked improvement in accuracy?I looked at one in Brownells and it was definately expensive.

I have one in my Ruger 10-22 and it is the complete unit in SS finish. Yes it is worth the cost. The only thing i did was take it apart and replaced the safety with a left hand big head. Trigger pull is around two pounds or less, i have never measure it to get the exact figure. I also replace the barrel with the carbon bull to make the rifle very light for squirrel hunting. With CCI Mini-Mag HP it shooots 1/4 inch groups at 50 yards. I will post a photo later.

Sweet rifle Bea!!! I have a little SS 10/22 with the synthetic stock and factory barrel on it.I`ve been thinking about a bull barrel and trigger for shooting paper and picking off turtles in a stock tank..

The carbon barrel gives you the accuracy of the heavy barrel with the weight of the sporter. You will be pleased with a setup like mine.

Hey Bea, I like the looks of your 10/22. I'm sure that baby is good at nailing little varmints. I've had mine in a heavy barrel/scope setup in the past, and it was great. Except for the trigger. For the time being I have it in it's original barrel/stock.
As to the trigger group. Do you have to clean it often? When I take apart and clean the factory trigger it feels very smooth for about 10 rounds. Then it acts all gritty and jerky. Not good at all for accurate shooting. The way the powder residue is basically dumped onto the trigger during the bolt cycling doesn't help any.
Timber, I've been thinking, like you have, of spending the money for one of these units. But they sure are gonna take a bite out of my wallet. What I want to do is get another receiver and put the heavy barrel/synthetic stock/scope/bipod on it. And get a decent trigger. I've tried some various spring kits and they don't really do a lot.
So I'm mostly wondering about how much you have to clean this Volquartsen trigger, or does it stay clean and crisp without much care? I've never had the opportunity to fire a 10/22 with one and would like to.
Bea, does your barrel have a match chamber? My A&B supposedly does, and some ammo seems to be a bit sticky in it. Mini-mags have functioned fine.

I used the Butler Creek barrel and i think it has the match chamber. I have never had to clean the trigger because of grit. The Butler Creek barrel only cost about 100.00 and shoots like one that cost three time that much. I shoot nothing but CCI Mini-Mag ammo and this ammo burns really clean, so i don't get a lot of grit in the action.
