I just got the Leupold 3x9 Compact mounted on my New Anshutz 17 Hornady .  I used the Warne Premier ring med height. The rifles shoots the 17 gr V-Max and the 20 gr XTP Hornady into the same hole, you can mix them up in the clip and can't tell which one made the group. I sighted it in at 30 yards dead own and  will check later at 50 and 100. I just fired it at it first live target a blujay at about 35 yards needless to say he depart this world in all directions. I really like the 17 Hornady and will try to call in a fox next week at my home in VA . Which will let me  try the 17 on bigger game. I will use the 20 gr XTP for calling and the 17 V-Max for Squirrel and crows. :thumbs:

I have been hunting with the 17 HMR ever since they put it on the market . It is very flat shooting but it is only a 150 yard gun and not 200 like most people think. I really like it for squirrel hunting and for game up to the size of coons, but wouldn't hestitate to shoot a yote if it was all had at the time i got the shot. I hope the 17 hangs on as long as the 22LR has.:thumbs:

The barrel is floated from the factory . The wood is really very plain and not fancy. I will take a close up tomorrow when i have good light and post it for you.:thumbs:

Bea;

Have you noticed a certain whiney buzzing lately?  Gnats or some other jealous little creatures is all I can figure.

I, on the other hand, think that that is one fine-looking rifle & the bolt is most perfectly placed.  If you like that style of ring & want something a little less clunky that'll match the blue, give Dave a call at Talley, I'm sure they can fix you up.

I like Warne rings and use them on a number of my rifles. I have tried the Talley rings in the past but prefer the Warne. :thumbs:
