I own a LH Savage Mod 93 in 22 mag and it shoots the Fed 30 gr Sierra HP the best and the Rem V-Max almost as good. I have killed a bunch of coons with the rifle and it drops them ASAP.

Dad has an old marlin with a Bushnell scope, used mostly for oposssum and grouse. I love the round wish that I had one too.

The only 22 Mag I own is a Ruger Single-Six with the two cylinders, 22lr & 22 Mag.
One day I'd like to get either a Marlin or Savage bolt 22 Mag.

Howdy Gene >> I bypassed the .22WMR and went the .17HMR route. Slave to testing out new stuff, I guess. I love my choice and wouldn't trade it for anything but have always heard glowing reports about the larger.22 rimfire from those using it so I figured it to be a quality round, as well. >> korey

Hey Korey..I`d like to try out one of the 17 HMR`s myself.Pesky crows hit my deer feeder every morning in the backyard. That round oughta do great at 100 yard shots on em... My 223Rem doesn`t give em a chance. Some 17 rimfire action might be fun on em..

Fella's;
I'm in the same boat as Gunrunner. Just the Single-Six with the mag cylinder. But, what about a Marlin 1894 levergun in .22 magnum? Hmmmm, what about that?

I bought a Marlin 982S (ss bolt w/plastic stock) in 22 mag and I really like it. I bought a 17HMR for hunting squirrels, but it was a bust: seriously accurate, but it bolws them up (great for PD's). I decided to go back to the mag for the better range and reduced destruction. I prefer head shots, but occasionally I have to take a body shot and the 22 mag won't blow up a squirrel. Most area's here, you can't recover a squirrel dropped over 75 yards away, you just can't spot them after they're down.

Timber, I've been a fan of the 22wmr for a long, long time. I bought my first 22wmr back in 1965-a Ruger Super Single Six (I think I've maybe fired two cylinders worth of regular 22 in it). As of right now, I've got several 22wmr's. Another Single Six, a Winchester Model 61, a Ruger 10/22(which they quit making), a Ruger 10/96, and an AutoMag. My thoughts are that the 22wmr is a highly underrated cartridge. I dearly love that old Win 61, which is a terrific shooter..quite a bit better than either of the Rugers. I've been considering a CZ in 22mag, since I had such great luck with a CZ 550 Varmint 308. If the little ones shoot like the big ones, it'll be awesome.
I will also say that I've not shot much of the more modern mag ammo, since I stocked up several years ago...lol, I've still got about 4k rounds of the old Winchester Super X-and it works well. At one time, I had about 5k rounds, but that has dwindled down just a bit. The last time I bought 22mag, the guy at the gun show had 'em for sale at $5.10 per box-that was quite some time back. I asked how much he had, he had 3 bricks, told him I'd give him $4.25 and take all of it. I walked out with it, and paid no tax.
So, we do have the likin' for the 22mag in common....

I bought one for the versatility of using full metal jacketed bullet in case I was saving fur.
The hollow point dispatch pests with authority.
Mine like the 40gr Winchester too DirtyDingus and shoot at the same point of impact (almost) which is what I wanted. On a whim I tried the 34gr Winchester supreme (in the black box) and they were even better.
Wasn't aware they quit making the magnum 10/22. Always wished I'd gotten one and now it may be too late?

Glad to see you fellas like em as well.My father bought me this little Marlin bolt action ,new in the box when I think was my 13th birthday. It has a fixed 4 power Redfield on it.I thought I was in hog heaven after I extended my range on cottontails with the 22 mag.I forgot about my old Marlin 25 bolt action 22lr after I got the 22Mag.I still have both of em and will never part with them..Too many memories of squirrel hunts, rabbit hunts, coon hunting with em etc as a pup.I rarely ever shoot them as I always seem to have to be doing something with my bigger centerfires but the 22 Mag is a sweet little cartridge..

Thought that i was kind of alone except for two of my friends. I have a win 94/22mag. Shoots great with nikon 3x9 nikon monarch on top. And i have a taurus 941 with a 4 inch barrel that i carry on the bike for coyotes and whatever else runs by. If you can find it the pmc predator jacketed soft points shoot good and are cheap as far as mag ammo goes.

Bareback,
How do you like the 941?
Was just talking with my wife about it last week as a range gun for her. She has, for medical reasons, fairly weak wrists now, but doesn't want to give up shooting completely. (The .44 is just way too much for her now.)

Gene,
I've got the exact same Marlin Model 883. Walnut stock and all. I mounted a Tasco 3-9X in Weaver mounts and it's a great little rifle! I don't shoot it enough as it deserves, but I would never sell it. It's a great companion piece to my Ruger Single Six Convertible in Stainless Steel. Bill T.

Well, you can add the CZ 452 to mine......
I put a Pride Fowler 3-9 x 32 on it...nice scope, nice rifle. I'm gonna have fun breaking in the barrel.........
