I bought a Remington 504 as a clearance item. People (writers) talked about how well they shoot. I tried every type ammo I could lay my hands on and could not break 3/4 inch at 50. I had decided to set the trigger pull back where it was and sell it when I noticed a slight in the Boyds stock it wore. I cleaned out the barrel channel and bedded the action. In 35 years of doing this, I have never seen such a profound difference with a rimfire. This gun will literally carve one hole groups with 4 different loads, its favorite being CCI - SGB, I think because its bearing surface is slightly longer.
Thought someone out there might need this info. Anyone else shooting these?

I am curious about the 504. Please tell us more about it, How easy does it clean? Is it slick to operate? In general how does it handle? Does it balance well?
Give us your general impressions of it.

The 504 is the "replacement" for the 541. The barrel is very smooth, cleans easily, and consistently tight. Mine is 0.219. The chamber is described as a semi-match. The longer versions of the LR ( such as green tag, RWS) will engrave on chambering. The engraving is not as significant as the original 541 S or the Winchester 52 but enough to center the bullet. The bolt is a little rough in feel when working the action. I have a number of the 541's and they are much smoother. The stocks of these 2 are quite similar, with the 504 slightly longer in the comb length. The 504 uses 5 land "5R" type rifling, whereas the 541 used a 6. The 504 will certainly shoot as well. Overall, I am content with the 504 as my go to squirrel rifle. I have made a number of head shots at the 60 - 70 yard range. I could not ask for more. I have noticed Remington is not cataloging this rifle for 2007.

The fellas at the B. Gun Club still don't want me showing up with mine, guess it's embarrassing for a $115(with scope) shooting as well as a $2,000 BR50 model Win52 with NightForce optic. Remington has many "secret" one hole .22 rimfires on the market. But I still like the 541T HB better then all the others.
Pillar bedding and barrel channel cleaning is a must.....
Scott (why'd you wait so long to fix it) B
