Dirtydingus,

I noticed your USAFSS patch.  Being a .22 rifle lover and a former USAFSS radio intercept operator, I felt I just had to ask you what outfits you were with, I was with the 6925th, 6925th Det 1, 6987th and 6911th.

I only have 6 .22 rifles along with one .22 Mag, and two .17HMR's, now that just covers the rimfires.

Anyway would like to hear from you.

Thats a Leupold Vari X II 3-9X 40MM sitting on top

This is how it shoots if I do my part.   billt

that middle target looks like it might have been shot with my 1022 custom! i love that thing...   it'll put 10 rounds into a group like that....  i never saw or shot such an accurate .22 rifle!

I'm very fond of 22 rimfire and have a gun cabinet dedicated just for my rimfire rifles. If limited to just one however, it would have to be the Ruger 10-22. I'm still shooting the 10-22 I purchased my senior year in HS, 1967. I think I've blasted enough ground squirrels, cottontails, and other assorted small animal beasties with it to sink a coal barge. I presently own three with various stocks and barrels and seem to shoot them more than any of my other 22's.

Savage MKII Bolt action non-accutrigger. It is the best shooting of all my 22s. Supper tight groups. A really great squirrel gun.

We have two 10/22, a standard stainless model with synthetic stock and a 2008 USA Shooting Team special.  Both are great to shoot and very reliable.

My other is a Henry GoldenBoy lever gun. Also great to shoot and very nicely made. We also have a Marlin Model 60 stainless.  Really bad front sight, actuall flimsy plastic. Will try to get it changed to a real sight some day.

I really like my 10/22 and then probably my Mossberg M46. I have a couple of ohters that don't see that much useage, One is an Anshutz and the other is a nice bolt action Savage.

My Dad has a Savage/ Anshutz 22 LR, which I'm not sure of the model # but when I was a kid he an I would stick a double bit axe into the wood pile and hang a clay pigeons on either side, then split the bullet and break both pigeons.
(kids don't try this at home, this stunt was performed by trained professionals) LOL

HA HA HA...it has to be the 10/22 I put together for my son.

Since the picture we (he and I) as a father son project, Put fiber optic sights and mounted a 3-9 40mm silver scope on top of a look thu mount so he could use the fiber optics if wanted.

Don't have a pic after the project, but reminds me that I should..

Have a good one, Guy

Hi, I just got one of these a couple of months ago. The trigger is so stout that I can not hold a good enough group at 50 yds. to send a target in here for the rim fire shoot they just had.

How is the trigger on yours?

Thanks and have a good one, Guy

I have , actually had, one of those. A little work with a file & a stone & some polishing made a pretty good rifle out of it. I gave it to my Son this past Saturday. My MKII FV has the AccuTrigger & shoots ok.

My old Savage model 6B that was my Dads. He gave it to me just before he passed away. It will always be my favorite. I have so many memories hunting as a kid with this rifle and my Dad.

My best 22 is my Ruger 10/22T with a Volquartsen .920 barrel and trigger set.
