There is a 22 lever rifle i would love to own. It was made by Mossberg back in the 60's and it was called the Palomino . I wanted one so bad at that time but just couldn'd make enought money to come up with 50.00. Working on the farms putting up hay, only payed 25 cent an hour. 50.00 was a great deal of money in those days. For a teen it was a small fortune. Maybe some of the older guys on the forum will remember the rifle i am talking about. One of the guys i worked for while putting up hay had one and he let me shoot it and i was in love but never got to own one. Ever since that day in the early 60's i have wanted one of those little lever 22 guns.

hi guys,,,i happen to have 2 of these,,,one is a 402 and the other is a 400 palamino made by mossberg in the 60's.bought these a few years back at seperate times,,,after i've seen one i had to have it.so 2 came along,,,i think the only difference is the barrel length.these and the 30-30 are the only lever actions made by mossberg.mine have no scopes and are very accurate with open sights,,,they are now burried in the back of my safe,,,brought out every other month for a rubdown of oil and a little sight down the open sights which brought 2 turkeys home at a local shoot.e-mail for pictures,,,gunjoe@comcast.net,,,happy to oblige,,,:lol::lol::lol::lol:

By chance did you ever find your Mossberg model 402 Palamino?  Mossberg made that rifle under several brand names one of which was the New Haven model 204.  I have one that I traded for in about 1963 when I was around 17 yrs. old.  I traded an old Harley Davidson Hummer to a buddy I grew up with for the rifle -- wish I had that motorcycle now.

Unfortunately, the rifle is not in working order right now.  It appears to be complete except for a receiver pin but the hammer doesn't seem to be releasing.  I don't guess it has been fired in about 35 yrs.  The stock is in nice condition as is the receiver;  the barrel and magazine have some rust from sitting in closets all these years and need refinishing.

If you're interested in taking on a project I'd be willing to sell it. I don't think it would take too much to get it in working order, but I wouldn't know that for sure. I can take photos and email them to you.

I live in Kernersville, NC (between Greensboro and Winston-Salem)

I have one that has never been fired.  has tag on the lever.  has some pitting, but nothing that effects the bore.

g2c@cox.net if you are interested.  I'm in VA so could sell with no forms or other junk.
