Lets talk about Rimfire handguns:
I enjoy a MK11 Slabside; and a Single Six .22-.22wmr. Prefer the .22lr.
I would like to find? Single Six .17hmr.? I still debate which what and howcome.
I do not want to buy new; still unsure I really want one. I shoot other stuff and am beginning to lean toward .22s

I have a Walther P22. It is fun to shoot, and gets a nice fireball out the muzzle when I shoot CCI Stingers through it.  :m249saw:

Over the years I've had some excellent .22 handguns. My favorite was a Colt Match Target, 2nd series w/6" bbl. A Browning Belgium Challenger, an early three screw Ruger single six, a High Standard Double Nine, which I still have - it was a first Christmas present back in 1962 from my late wife. A plain-jane Browning Buckmark with two slab side barrels, 4" & 5 1/2", and my big boomer - an Astra Cub in .22 short...

I shoot my .22 handguns a good bit.

The MkII Government Model is a fine pistol and I like it, but tend to prefer my S&W K-22 or M18 Combat Masterpiece.

My carry piece is a Kimber CDP-PRO .45, their version of the Lightweight Commander. I recently bought one of their .22 conversion kits, fully expecting to have all sorts of feeding problems and ammo glitches. Not so, I was happy to discover. The unit functions beautifully and is at least as accurate as the MkII. I am very happy to have a rimfire that uses the same platform and trigger as my carry gun.

I also have a German-made PPK/s in .22LR that is fun to shoot.

With the costs of ammo, even reloaded ammo, these days, the rimfires are a great bargain.

:troll:I have several .22 handguns, my favorites are the original High Standard autos. I shoot about 200 rds. per week through them. On saturdays we have a falling plate .22 match at our local club. This is the most fun you can have and doesn't cost a whole lot. As i'm retired and living on my pension the cost of shooting 800-1000 rds. of center fire cartridges per month would cut into my pocket book pretty deep as i also shoot rifles and shotguns.

I bought my dad a newer model(cant remember exact model #) Ruger 22 short/heavy barrel semi auto.  He picks squirrels out of tops of trees at 50 yards with iron sights.  I shoot a TC 10" barrel 22 that is excellent to about 75 yards with iron sights.  I also shoot a Heritage Arms 22lr/22WMR single action.  I'm hitting quater size object at 25 yards with no problem

I have an eclectic group of rimfire handguns.

Browning Buckmark 5" round bull barrell - recently broke the firing pin though, so it is out of action.

Whitney Wolverine - a 50's classic with Alcoa Aluminum frame - stylish and ahead of it's time.  Very good shooter with an awesome near-match trigger.  Funky sights though.

Stoeger Luger - fun to shoot, and pretty accurate with ammo it likes.  Not as close to the 'classic Luger' styling as the Erma .22, but it is far more reliable.

Tanfoglio TA76 - western-style revolver, and grandfather of today's Heritage Roughrider.  Mine is .22WMR, and a fair shooter.  Outshot a guy using a .22WMR Singlesix shooting at soda cans at 100 yards once - I had a lot more practice in.  I love the saying - "It's the MAN, not the machine!"

S&W Model 17 - queen of my rimfires - deadly accurate on bullseye target or squirrel!

I have the Ruger Single 6 Hunter in 17hmr very nice gun. The only problem I have with it is I don't shoot plow handles very well to begin with and the Single 6 is really small. On the other hand I also have a Taurus Tracker in 22lr and it fits and shoots very well.

I only have one rimfire handgun of note. It is a Ruger Mk II with the 6 7/8" barrel. I put a Volquartsen trigger in it and it shoots very well.

I loaned it to my sister for about 15 years. She carried it under the front seat because for protection from a stalker. Needless to say it doesn't look to pristine but it still shoots well.

Swampshooter - Your post reminded me that I have an old High Standard Model B in the safe that I haven't fired in twenty years or more.  I think I'll dig it out and exercise it a little.  I normally shoot an old Browning Challenger or 3-screw Super Single Six when shooting rimfire.  My wife has a Buckmark that she shoots pretty well, but it's not as much fun as the Challenger.  Thanks for the reminder.

I only have one Rimfire pistol, it's a Ruger Single Six, the 22lr/22Mag pistol and it is the long barreled version.

Sometime I will probably buy a decent target 22 pistol, just don't what it will be. When I find one that feels right for me, I will buy it.

Jerry

That does look like a lot of fun. Went through that belt pretty fast.

Cabelas has some kit that will turn two rugger 10/22's into a crank fire gun. Its not a true gattlin gun though.

I shoot a Ruger, three-screw, Single-Six with 9" barrel and a Ruger Mark II Govt. Target Model.  They are both great.
