I am not sure if Remington owns Eley and makes Eley ammo, or just repacks the stuff that Eley makes.

My situation is that I am running out of Eley for my target rifles and want to buy some more, who out there has the scoop on Eley at this moment? Is there a petter target ammo on the market these days. In one rifle I only shoot target ammo, the other I shoot target ammo after I get them sighted in for the ammo I am using at thet moment.

Thanks,

Jerry

Remington relabels some grades of Eley. It is mostly not avialable here except by mail order.

I have been using Wolf Match Extra, very good stuff but now I can't find that anywhere and the price has gone up to $86 per brick. the last I bought was $38 per brick.

Till something comes available I am shooting Federal Auto Match from WalMart.

I will give the Wolf and Federal a try, but $86 a brick is steep even for Eley. I know the local Cabela stocks the Eley and the last time I bought some it was about $5 a box.

Thanks,

Jerry

I really like the Wolf (same as SKG) but i am not paying $86 plus shipping for it. I gave the last brick I had to our 4H kids to shoot in the state match.

There are some bad lots of the Federal Auto Match to watch out for, Lot numbers that end in 410 & 425. They apparently were not crimped properly and are inconsistent.

I like RWS, do you have a distributor for the ammo?

Thanks,

Jerry

I know you can get it from Midway. I got mine from Gander Mountain a few years back.

I didn't know that RWS made all those different times of Ammo. I see that midway as the ammo. I ahve been able to figure out Gander Mountains website yet, but I will try again later.

Thanks for the tip,

Jerry

Gander Mountian website is just for show, They have an agreement with Cabela's not to sell stuff online or mail order when they sold those rights about 10 - 15 years ago. So dont waste your time on it.

Also, check Graf and Sons http://www.grafs.com/ I think they have it also.

After testing lots of ammo in my Savage MKII Bolt Action I found that the SK Standard Plus shoots about as good as anything. It shoots better for me than some of the much more expensive Lapua or Eley match ammo. In fact, I'm a little surprised it shoots such tight groups--I love it.

Jerry, to my knowledge Eley is still indepedantly owned, in England. Federal Gold Medal, RWS-R-50, and Lapua and cci green tag all shoot well. I don't know of retail source of eley, but GZanders Sporting Goods, Baldwin, Il. is the wholesaler, maybe your local dealer can order for you.
