Doubles?  Dunno about that, but to have, to hold, you can't beat an MN rifle and carbine to go with it. (And surp ammo is still cheap, even if you can't reload it.)  An M1 is next on my list.

I'll probaby go after some more of what i already have thus doubles or more.  I have 6 or 7 swiss k31's in the safe. I always end up with more than just 1. The russian mosins look very attractive price wise and so do the yugo 8mm mausers too.

When i first started collecting i thought i'd never see a russian m38 or m91/59 mosin since they been gone for a while.  Then they started showing up again.  I kind of have what i want but i'd like to get some more laminated stocks and some hex receiver mosins while there still offered.  Now is the time to buy before there gone too.

Grabbing some more 7.62 nagant revolvers would be a bad idea too.

:troll:I recently got lucky twice- I found a 1943 quality HMC M1 carbine in a gun shop- it had a bad triggerspring and commercial wood but original safty and rear sight- I got it for $220! I also found a Finnish MN M91 at a auction- it has the old style metal sling hangers and is marked 1927 on the hex receiver and has the tikka arsenal mark. I am told it is very collectible?!

I just picked up a Colt model 1895 in 38 long colt yesterday. Now I need to find something to feed this dinosaur. Iguess I can trim down 38 spec. if I have to.

I found another Mauser 98k at a garage sale for $150!  It's dated 1942 with Czech markings (Waffenfabrik Brunn).  The gentleman claimed to have brought it back from WWII and has no children interested in firearms.  I almost felt guilty!  I assured him it would have a good home and he was pleased.  It needed some cleaning up and minor rust removal but that is easy.  Now I have two Mausers that shoot very well.

A regional sporting goods store chain here in Oregon ran an ad for Inland made M1 Carbines in yesterday's newspaper.  I almost choked when I saw the price - $999.99.  While they are fun little firearms, I can't see paying that kind of money for them.

Excellent rifle and fun to shoot.  My first "deer rifle" was a Mauser 98 that I still own.  Check out the Numrich site http://www.gunpartscorp.com  if you want to make it "original".  They used to have just about every part, including stocks and handguards, there is for a Mauser on their site and for very reasonable prices.  Lots of good accessories, too.  I have not checked it recently, but I suspect they still carry what you would need.

Just picked up two Century's You-Fix-Ems, Yugo M24/47s. Also ordered a Brazilian M94 (small ring) receiver Century was listing at $10. The Yugos are missing sight hoods, and one has a safety/striker problem, bolt won't open with the striker down and the safety in the "fire" position. Not a hard fix at all, both look so good I'm reluctant to rebarrel them. Not bad for $49 each.

Just one hour ago I bought a Steyr 95 carbine. On the outside it looks like new. The wood matches very well and I would say the original finish is about 95%. They are on sale for $79.00. It even came with a bayonet but it doesn't seem to fit.

The bad news is the barrel looks like the inside of a cave. They wouldn't let me sort through them to find a good barrel. I am currently cleaning it and I will post pictures after I get the cosmoline off.

Ok, I have just begun the clean up but after running a brush and some patches along with some brake cleaner the bore now looks unfired. The bolt has no marks of any kind on it and all the number match down to the barrel bands.

The sear and trigger also look new. How is this possible? Good wood and almost new condition? This kind of thing never happens to me.

Most all of the M95s look like that. BTW, if I remember correctly, Hirtenberger produced almost all of Austria/Hungary's ammunition, and was using non-corrosive primers in the early to mid 1930s.  I can't recall seeing a Mannlicher bore that was mucked up by corrosive ammunition and poor cleaning.

I gave the bore a good cleaning with Montana 50 cal extreme and got not a sign of copper fouling.

Now I just need some clips and ammo.

Charley is the brazilian m94 in 7mm?

A few years back i purchased a 7mm brazilian mauser with muzzle cap, sling and bayonet for $150 from gunbroker.  The rifle and bore are in great condition.  My point is like the very next day the prices went thru the roof on these.  Within a week they were hitting $400.  My collection of 7mm's started with a Chilean M95 I found hanging in a local gun shop that i passed by to and from work for almost 20 years and never went in till one day while i was browsing.  I found it with a russian mosin M59 too with an inch of dust on them.  The orginal owner passed away and i just missed the son selling the collection of old henry's.  Thats me missing everything....

I'm pretty sure it was. Now it's just a stripped receiver. Might build a .250 Savage on it

Saw an ad in the paper yesterday for M95 Steyr Mannlicher rifles, so naturally went to the store immediately and picked up a nice carbine for $89.00. Steyr marked, with an S over the chamber.

Then the search started for ammo and clips.

J&G Sales in Arizona has Bulgarian corrosive for $24.98 per 50, and Sportsman's Guide has Hornady for $21.97 per box of 20.

Then the clip search.. After looking around on the net, the only sure thing that I found was http://www.gunpartscorp.com. Not cheap, but they had them!!

I did manage to finally see the bore after liberal applications of Kroil and Sweets (not together). A little dark, but no pits, and with decent rifling

One thing that bothers me is that I'll have to wait until I can use both arms so that I can take it apart for a complete cleaning.

Let's see... 205gr bullet, light carbine.. Good thing the right shoulder is still intact:wink:.

M95

Numrcich has the clips for $3.40 each. I bought 12 and the shipping was $8.50 for a total of $48.50. All of them but one looked new. The one is a little rusty.

I am going to try a different load (24 grains of 4198) with the 100 grain 330 diameter pistol bullets as the 1st load key holed badly.

It looks like I will have to mount a peep sight on the receiver because I cannot see the rear sight if I am seeing the front sight.

I really like the M95. Except for the lack of ammunition, I cannot see why these things aren't more popular.
