A yugo 8mm from Samco. First one the safety wouldn't work. They took it back and sent me a really , really nice one in its place. Haven't clean it up and shot it yet.

BTW...what is the recoil like on one of those? Recoil can be a problem for us with RA. (wrists, fingers and shoulders)

Before the 8mm, it was a K31, 7.5. I saw the old ones as a kid in the mail order catalogs and was facinated by the strait pull bolt. Had to have one, so after I got my 03FFL I did some shopping and again ended up at Samco.

Haven't shot it either, but all looks and acts great....I was not disappointed with it at all.
Have a good one. Guy

Use US SAMMI spec ammo, and recoil will be no problem at all.

Use US SAMMI spec ammo, and recoil will be no problem at all. Yep, and being handloaders, we can tailor our ammo for more comfort when shooting, while retaining good accuracy.  I do this with my M1916 Spanish Mauser - it'll chamber .308Win, but I load to either 7.62X51 specs or even down to about the same level as .30-40 Krag.  Makes it light enough to shoot all day.  And no worries about damaging the old warhorse.

I do not have dies or any components for it. I already have more dies than I ever get time to use. That is why I was asking about recoil. I will probably shoot it very little and use a factory ammo when I do. I bought it just to have one. Thanks for the info guys.
Have a good one, Guy

Hey Charley we'z all gonna be handloaders soon, I'm just glad we got a head start.   I been looking over my sets of dies to see what i'm missing.  I may also look into the berdan primer tool too.  Has any one come up with a pocket reamer so we can use the normal primers in the berdan cases?  We have to start cutting corners to save brass now for sure.

Converting from Berdan to Boxer is being done - Google it up, or look into the reloading subforum on SwissRifles_dot_com.  It requires swaging the primer pocket and anvil down, as Berdan pockets are BIGGER than Boxer.  This seems the safest and most practical of at least three different ways to do it.  The other two ways limit you to low-powder pistol-powder loads.

I'd like to try this method, especially for the nice GP11 Swiss brass that is so very nice!  Even those crappy Turk Mauser cases clean up very nice in the tumbler.  Shame to not be able to use them!

Congrats on your post. Picked up a few more 91s and another SKS and have not even shot them yet. One is WAY too busy when he doesn't take time to play with his toys.
My pet is a 1918 Winchester Enfield in '06-just sweet. The Swedish mauser converted to '06 is not to be sneezed at either-changing the butt plate on it over the holidays. Wonder how it will feel with an M1A plate??
