I only used the converted 7.62x54R cases for cast bullet plinkers. Never had any big problems with them being so short, but they wouldn't be my first choice for standard loads. I also haven't had any problems with the converted cases feeding from the clips. Quien sabes?
Since you've got that much brass in 7.62x54R anyway, you need to pick up a nice Mosin M91/30 while they are still cheap and available. M44s look cooler, but 91/30s shoot better, IME.

Charley I plan on using the converted cases for cast loads also. The problem I am having is the unformed cases will not feet. I hope they will after forming.
The Lee mold I have throws a 222 grain bullet. That is with a gas check and lube. Is that about what you get?
What is you sight setting for 100 yards?

That's somewhere around what I get. Been a while since I've played with mine. I wasn't happy with the size of the Lee bullet, I ended up lapping out a Lyman .323 sizer to .333 or thereabouts and using Lee's .338 bullet. Seems a bit more accurate, but again, it's been a while since I played with it.
