The last issue of Guns and Ammo had a article on the newer, more accurate Mini. These rifles are dead on for reliabilty but are minute of washtub rifles--I welcome any improvement to shrink those groups-----What if Bill had introduced his rifle at the same time as Stoner??????????

I am thinking of getting a Mini14 for the wife, as she can't shoot really long range anyway, and reliable is a BIG plus for her, as well as low recoil/low cost. She has a WASR10 right now that is too heavy for her with a full 30 round mag installed.

Only problem I had with mine was case ejecting with a scope mount on. My rifle is a very early made mini 14. Took the scope off and can hit targets out 200 yards no problem and reliabilty a dream. Have fed it all makes and brand of ammo and keeps ticking.

I had a Mini 14 in the early '80's, a 181 series, and it was minute of barn door at 25 yards.

I have a Mini-14 purchased in around 2005ish. I have a Nikon Monarch scope on it. Its extremely accurate. My first kill with it was a running coyote at around 120yds. knocked it down first shot.
I like the gun, and my early teen kids have deer kills with it too. No accuracy problems, no feeding problems. The thing shoots any kind of cheap ammo I put in it. The Remington Core Lokt bullets are as accurate as needed for hunting with this one.
